I hope you will have a change of mind once you get detained without legal recourse. Your declared disregard of human rights is not any better than terrorists' disregard for their declared enemies.

I would for others who have not been proven to be terroist, but this man has admitted to being a terrorist and planning attacks against innocent lives.

These people already has no regards for humanity, i don't see why they should be given the rights of a normal human beings.

Are they doing it out of desperation? Are they doing it because they need to feed their family? Are they doing it so the world will become a better place?

NO

They are doing it because their 'sick' leader is telling them to do so, to conduct multiple bombings against innocent victims. While wishing to be judged like a saint and given a reward for killing the innocent... what kinda sick brain will actually believe this??

I have the same thoughts for people who start Wars for power, if I could choose, all of them should be put to death.

Ok my bad he probably never admitted, but Running away is as good as admitting..
Why run when you got nothing to hide?

Running away isn't as good as admitting. If it were so, running away from court is quite the same as testifying in court, isn't it?

Try to look from another perspective.

This man was never put to trial and holed up under the ISA act. What we only know is what is being reported in the media. Did we hear from the man himself in court? If they perceive him to be that dangerous, why not put him to trial and hand down the most severe sentence ever?!!

And there was never a court date for him to look forward to.....so did he run away from the court?

My Cousin Saw Mas Selamat!

My cousin works at McDonalds, White Sands.

Last week, he was on the closing shift which ends at 2am. On the way home, he saw police at the MRT's 7-11. He knows the guys working there, and asked what's up?

The two guys actually served Mas Selamat! When he came in the store, they suspected it was him but acted naturally to avoid confrontation whatsoever but called the police soon after he left. Guess what? The police came 2 - 3 hours later!! And they viewed the CCTV footage and apparently the image matched! He was wearing the same slippers and pants, has a limp too!

So well actually my cousin only saw Mas Selamat on CCTV. haha but still! that's a very close encounter!

Now i understand why the minister kept saying, "We have no reason to believe he's left the country" bcause the criminal has been sighted inland!

For the benefit of my foreign readers, Mas Selamat escaped a Whitley Detention centre some 19 days ago. He was alleged to have been planning to plant a bomb in an aircraft from Indonesia inbound to our Changi airport. I believe this is the first time a jailor had ever escaped from a prison in S'pore!! Well.. you can read more here

wow.. the police take 2-3 hours to come.. like that how to catch him? there is more than enough time for him to travel from East to West arleady :(

actually why didnt any passerby just bring him down on the spot. he should be ultra weak by now with lousy food.

Wah!

If he is spotted at pasir-ris. he might be contemplating at attempting to cross the johor straits.

Then good luck to him. He will need it. The straits is shark infested. I recalled years ago I was involve in a manhunt for a few drug addicts who escaped from a low sercurity lockup premises. They tried to swim across ...but were attacked by nurse sharks. As the strait is deep enough to accomodate large ships that passes by and they attract sharks as they throw food overboard. IF he can make...he had to be super fit to fight strong current and the distance is nothing you can call chicken feed.

2-3 hrs response time is v v slow.

i rem when i was in london, one of the students at my hostel decided one night to call the police using a genuine IRA codeword (dunno how he got hold of it) to make a bomb hoax call. the police started knocking at our front door while he was still on the phone. :bsmilie:

terrorist-related response time should be measured in minutes, not hours.

I really find it strange that it should take the police 2 - 3 hours to respond to a call bout Mat Selamat given that the whole Nation is out looking for him. Most of their resources have been combing the Island for him and yet a 7/11 store in Pasir Ris (PR) calls them and PR being so close to the border, I'm really surprised that they are not there within 5 mins. They must have personnel around that area. Something very strange.

Also, the story about nurse sharks. IIRC, nurse sharks are plankton eaters and do not attack humans unless provoked.

2-3 hours is unacceptable.. nearby police post dun have duty police meh ?

Oh....I just heard on the news yesterday.

"His limping is only noticeable when he walks quickly or run."
-That sure helped, after 3 weeks since his escape.

Few weeks back
"It's a critical time now, it's been 3-4 days and Mas Selamat needs to come out and get food/water."

Yesterday news
"He was trained to survive in the jungle."

Man, they should release such information WAY ahead. Maybe they are just giving excuses for not catching him any sooner. =/
