Hi,

I'm going to Japan coming Oct-Nov. I'm wondering which camera should I bring with me for this trip.

Nikon D90 with 18-55 kit lens
Fujifilm X10

Care to share the reason for choosing x10?

The main idea would be something that doesnt get in the way, and easy enough to quickly do street shots. Of course, if this was stacked against the RX100, I'd take the RX100.

If I wanted better quality images then obviously I'd take the D90. You can always bring both, and take out the one most suited to where you are visiting on a daily basis.

I was considering getting Sony A6300 and selling away my D90. But the price fell so badly I feel not worth.

You need a lens with more range.
The 16-85 from Nikon would give you more flexibility.

Sure troller. Nice showing off your gears.

I went to the Lake district in the UK for a few days and came back yesterday.
Brought my Nikon D750 with battery grip and 2 batteries.
With the 24-120/4 VR and the Sony RX100 Mk 4 for 4K videos.
I also brought the 14-24/2.8 and SB-300, but both ended up underutilised.

Don't bring a tripod along, it will become too cumbersome.
Pack the bare minimum, a wide zoom starting at 24mm with more reach than 70mm would be ideal.
No primes, unlikely you'll be shooting portraits.
The X10 is OK, a bit dated. Consider the Sony RX100 Mark 3 or newer.
As for the D90, it too is dated. Consider the D7100 or newer, with the addition of the 16-85 VR and the SB-300.

Just got this.

cool!

Now you need a travel tripod,
wide angle say 10-18mm f/4, together with your kit 16-50mm?
and you are good to go!

and also more batteries and memory cards :p

Think you short of the 100-400mm :)

I have the canon 200-400 F4. But unfortunately, I broke several front elements of the lens during a shoot, and didn't bring to Japan.

The 100-400 is not really ideal, as if you have used before, you would realise that it's image quality is nowhere near 70-200 f2.8 level.

For casual shoot, probably it will be sufficient. But for me, nah, not good enough. And if I were to shoot using that for my client's work, you can be assured that would be my last shoot for my client.

I see, I am a hobbyist using it for casual purposes :D

Consider the new 10-20 VR from Nikon too. Wide angle can occasionally be useful.
Travel light!

I'm going Japan too Oct-Nov prob drop by Tokyo Auto Show. Got me some JR train tickets for tourists.
Would have brought my OMD1 II but it's dead after a splash and Olympus refused to honor their warranty.
So settling with a light 6D 50mm f1.2 and Sigma Art 24mm f1.4 (considering only this and not 50mm) for portraits n landscape around Tokyo/Shinjuku/Akihabara/etc then off to Osaka/Kyoto/Nara, to catch deers and maikos etc
