Izzit true that using AF = noob?

Dude... Just shoot as you please, AF or manual focus... People are entitled to their opinions.. Or at least they think they are... If you shoot in AF, then so be it. I shoot in AF too. The only time I switch to manual is when I use AI-S lenses... and the occassional macro.

I believe a lot of people out that rely on AF, including professionals. Just imagine shooting a bird or F1 car zooming by you without AF...

So your friend has expressed his view... You can tell him mine... (Our, judging from the posts above, our views)

FYI, the first Nikon camera has Auto Focus is the Nikon F3 AF, a professional grade SLR body.

That was in 1983. don't know your friend born already or not?
