is it normal for purple bright lights to be seen in previewed or uploaded videos taken at night near light sources eg. lamps??

Are you talking about Purple Fringing? (Do a google search pls)
If that's the one, yes. It is dependent on the quality of the lens.

Ya... But from wat i know....still photos after captured, it will not be presented... But just dunno is it normal for it to remain in a video after capture on ixus 70

Hmm... Lines appearing near light source appearing in videos. Hee...hope this is better
 

Oh, you mean the lines when pointing at a bright source ar.

I think its ok for those in the image.
 

Emm, never tried Video mode. It does appeared in the LCD live-view. But when the pic is taken, its alright.

"To date there is no clear single item that is responsible for purple fringing. We do know that is most likely to happen when apertures of greater than f/4 are used, when a wide angle of 28mm (or equivalent) or wider is used and when the subject to background contrast is high. Since it is most likely to happen under those conditions, avoid that combination if possible. To remedy some of these problems it seems to be most advisable to use a lens hood or shield the lens from light raking directly a crossed it."
