hi adrian_4781, I bought mine there and they said they will mail me the warranty card today, so I expect to get it from them in a couple of days.

As for the freebies, I got a lexar SD card, and the canon 7-in-1 bag with the cleaning stuff/tripod. The battery is original, the camera is Made in Japan, seems to work fine...

I paid $610 too (about 3 weeks ago)

Resolution-wise...I have not printed...but I think should be quite big. There are probably other threads in this forum which can advise you better on what a 4.0 MP digital camera can produce

Like to check all of you if your Ixus 40 have some twicking sound from the lens when you tries to focus.. my seems rather loud compare to my S40.. so I am abit worried...

I bought my IXUS 40 last week...paid $665.

I traded in the 128Mb SD card for the original Canon pouch (the one with the metallic IXUS at the clasp). And bought an additional original Canon battery (NB-4L).

On top of that I get the strangely-named 7-1 bag at the shop.

In total, all for $665 in cash.

And yes, I am also still waiting for my warranty card from Bestcam

ok thanks for the link. I guess $69 is quite reasonable.

Have not received warranty card (they said they sending out on Wed, today is Thursday...maybe get it when I reach home), but will check that the serial number is mine :)

Is a 512MB SD card enough to record 5min worth of video on my Canon ixus 40?

Well, eastgear is selling a 128 Kingston at $29 and flashcard is selling a similar one at $27.

Fair trade or not, i leave the readers to decide

Thanks for the info about the price of the battery. If you read carefully my previous post, you would see that i have paid $665 in total...yes, that price included the spare battery.

high speed? Oh no. u mean kingston brand is not good enough? Argh this makes me so confused. How many reputable brands are out there?

Lexar is very good is it? I got the 128MB free, then saw at Courts, so expensive!

Actually lexar, kingston and sandisk are some of the more reputable brands of memory cards ...their cards consist of different speed...for example, the lexar card u got from canon is a normal speed (4x) type...there r some types which has speed up to 60x or 80x actually...but this type of high speed card will be more expensive...

The $69 kingston card most prob is the normal speed one...normal speed card wont affect ur still pics taking but just tat u cannot record continous video onli....

btw courts's stuff always more expensive one....a 128mb normal speed SD card nw less than $40 onli....

Wow!! Didn't know this thread progressed so much since I last read it! :O

Anyways, here's my 2 cents:
- Just got my warranty card from BestCam in the mail today, more than 1 week since I bought my IXUS 40, but it arrived nonetheless (have yet to check the serial # yet though)
- They did not swap any Canon original stuff for other 3rd party stuff, but did try to get me to buy more accessories (e.g. Lowepro carrier bag, spare battery).
- Agree that you should NOT go to non-reputable shops that give you deals that sound too good to be true. For e.g. there was a shop at Peninsula Plaza (forgot the name liow) that quoted me $600 for IXUS 40 without even bargaining!! That got me REALLY suspicious.

Btw, if you want to get bigger SD cards, pay a visit to Sim Lim Square first to do a bit of homework. It could save you $10 to $20.

Well, kingston has two types of Sd cards. One is the normal kingston and the other one is the the Kingston Elite Pro, which is the high speed card. It is in white colour, I dunno about Singapore but in Johor, I manage to get 512 Kingston Elite Pro SD for RM205. I also notice that Kingston Elite Pro's SD card is slower than Sandisk Untra2 SD card. Kingston Elite has 7.7mb/sec write rate while Sandisk Ultra2's write rate is 9mb/sec. I did ask a fren to quote to me the price for Sandisk Ultra2 in Singapore, i dunno where she get the price... but unfortunately she quote me 512mb Ultra2 sandisk for S$148 = RM 340.

Btw, anyone knows if there is any website for me to upload my photo? Sumthing like online individual photo album for my own collection? :p

I've been meaning to buy a 512MB card, I know eventually I will...heehee. But anyway, I've also been recording with my current 128MB, and was pleasantly surprised that it can record continuously for more than 5 mins! :bsmilie:

If u can take movies at 640x480 for 5mins with Elite pro......it's good enough....Scandisk Ultra, u pay high price but will not utilize the additional speed.

For photo upload, u can try yahoo
