There are 2 main pickup points. From Rialto Bridge or St Mark Sq. Depending on wat time u take the gondola, the price sort of differs. We took it ard 11am and paid EUR 80 (hubby did abit of bargaining). I think peak charge is EUR 130+. The trip will take abt 20mins max. I think the route is pretty standard depending on where u board the gondola.

I feel pretty comfy with the camera around my neck. I did get warnings before the trip to be wary in Rome but found it pretty alright. Juz keep your wits abt u and it shud be fine. Oh, alot of churches don't allow flash photography but many tourists flout the rules which I find really irritating.

The pesky pigeons at San Marco Square...Fun to watch pple feed them..no fun when I was trying it. The damn birds are SUPER aggressive.

These few photos are very nice. You managed to capture the flying bird in your frame!

Hi there, I was particularly interested in this thread because I'm heading over to Italy in Aug (just b4 National Day). Was thinking of getting a good lens as I can see Italy is beauuutiful. I have the 350D with kit lens only. Although should be good enough was wondering whether a wide angle lens will give pictures the extra.. Wondering if we could see night shots of Italy?

I brought the 24-105 and 35mm for this trip. Pretty decent I find for my usage. I reckon your kit lens shud be sufficient (17 * 1.6= 27.2mm). Only drawback of the kit lens maybe the the apeture which may make shooting in low-light conditions tough and alot of the churches don't allow flash photography.

I didn't have much night shots taken for my trip as I always leave the camera bag back in the hotel before going for dinner and evening walks..heehee ;p

These are frm the brass door of the duomo church..

Great photos. Wondering if you had any tips for your trip. Dos and don'ts etc. Are photos (without flash) allowed in museums?

Some areas don't allow flash though I do see many people flouting the rules. Which in holy places are abit annoying. I find in Rome too crowded for tripod usage...so I guess tip would be don't need to lug it around with u if you are planning to go there. Oh, get the Rome Pass. Gets u 3 days unlimited public transport usage in Rome and "priority" access to places like Colosseum. Save us heaps of time. Hope it helps. Enjoy ur trip :D

very nice pictures.
did you like italy?
