sounds like you not quite happy with your e-330, kind of a bad first impression ah? somehow, i think talking about body built really depends.. i feel that its built is solid, and i like the slightly heavier feel. and AutoWB is to most accurate so far among the e-systems. i've tested it against my e-500 before.

i always scrutinise every equipment i owned or others if someone let me lay my hands onz! :bsmilie:

body built is important to me but only time will tell if i will like the body.

the functions in the e-330 are fantastic. there are so many functions that i dont even know how to operate some of them. noise level and auto wb are quite good, pretty idiot proof for someone like me. haben really test the sharpness of the pixel by pixel peeping as compared to e-300 yet.

buffer is limited to 4 frames continuous (regardless of SHQ or RAW+SHQ) unless SQ or something which allows continuous until buffer full.

something strange......... enabling NR allows only 240 RAW instead of 310 RAW in 4GB? i am kinda of quzzled by this.

dont like the iso-auto (scene-image stabiliser :what: ) and battery life (live view too addictive :embrass: ). that is the findings after the first run-thru.

definite must upgrade from all e-bodies.

Then saw these .... guess wat the last lens is. ;p

Appreciate feedback from members here as i'm totally new to DSLRs.

I've been eyeing the Oly E-500 for quite a while, is CP's IT Show bundle a good offer compared to the quote i get from AP(SLS) for the basic set, body + 2 lens kit + CF 1GB at $1580.

i don't really need the bundled bag and tripod (already have a 2nd hand tripod). but will still need to get a dry cabinet.

so does it make more monetary sense to get the CP offer or get from AP for the basic set + purchase the dry cabinet and spare CF + Batt + Filters separately?

anyone wants to sell me the drycab? :bsmilie:

I find the I.T show offer is worth it for a newbie dSLR owner. But not for an exsisting dSLR owner or upgrader, as he dun need the 2 pcs of 1gb CF, dry cabinet etc, as he most prob already have.

just got back fm Suntec... intention was to just get printer cartridges with free photo paper promo...

stop by CP booth to see see look look... enquired if they just sell the basic E-500 dual-lens kit without the promo bundle, with James (the salesman) asking me if i was making a serious enquiry...

they do and ended up getting the basic E-500 kit for $1569 nett (with CF 1GB and Lowepro EX180 thrown in)...

I was at suntec without any intention to buy the e330 at first. But the salesman James gave me a pretty good bundle price, saying becos it was the last day of the show.

I have been contemplating getting my first DSLR for quite some time, was eyeing Canon originally, but the live view function of e330 caught my eyes, as I have been very used to my Nikon 5700 prosumer camera already.

Anyway, I just asked if he could give me the dual-lens kit offered for the E500, and he was actually agreeable, still selling at the same price at $1999 but the freebies were reduced to only one 1Gb CF card and the Lowepro camera bag, which was alright for me as I already have most of the other bundle items.

Still very new to the camera with so many functions and controls. I thought of attending the free workshop but then, no information was given on how to sign up. Will probably have to call CP tomorrow.

So what did you get for $1999? Tell me, tell me... I want to know...

You need to sign up at the Olympus website.

HOLY COW! good buy!

Paying $1999 (incl GST) got me the E330 with dual-lens kit, one 1Gb CF card and one Lowepro bag. And I also bought the 40Gb harddisk at $99 and the FL36 flash at $299. The whole purchase set me back by $2400. The most costly investment in my hobby so far  Just read up about the hd, seems that I can do a direct transfer of pictures into the hd through a adaptor (got to buy separately) w/o going through a pc and also can use it for charging. Will be good for travelling. No wonder they quoted the original price for this hd as $529. Was earlier wondering how could a 40Gb hd cost so much.

greencoral, there are many brands and models out there.
e.g. i have a digimate III case (with built-in various card readers), just mount any 2.5" hardisk you want to it... a mobile digital storage.. very useful for travel.

the case itself should not cost too much. can get around 100 (can be less) for a decent one. but, some brand/model (which have special features) can sell over a 200 dollars.

so, it's u to you. just a note, 2.5" hardisk is those HD used on notebook types.

If you're on a tight budget you can try one of these

http://www.macally.com/spec/usb/storage_device/enclosure25.html

Its a USB OTG (On-The-Go) device that doubles as a USB host controller. Has internal lithium-ion battery to power the internal HD as well as external USB reader device. Bought one to try from Velocity Technology (Sim Lim Sq, #04-16 www.velocity.com.sg) for about $110 (or $250+ including a 40gb) That was 9 mths ago, it should be even cheaper now since HD prices have gone down so much.

Not advisable to hook up to the E-330 as its USB 1.1-only transfer rate would take too long, probably deplete both batteries by the time you're done transferring 1-2Gb worth of photos.
