I just placed an order. If you're paying with an SG credit card or having it shipped here directly, you must keep chasing them because they'll send your details for 'verification'. Mine took 4 days before it shipped and I had to call them in the US.

Amazon I think can order stuffs from Adorama. I've researched on the stuffs I want before and seems like adorama is cheaper than BH, so compare the 2 prices.

I ordered from Adorama through Amazon, and it was very fast. It took 2 days to arrived at my borderlinx address in USA, and then another 4 days to ship to singapore. Totla 6 days to get my stuffs.

We always seek identity verification from a first-time customer using a non-US credit card, or a customer requesting delivery to an address other than that listed for the card.
This is a requirement of our bank, and protects the innocent consumer whose details have bee stolen as much as it protects us as the retailer.

There are very few retailers in this day and age who will not do the same!
Provided you contact our verification department as soon as you receive a request to do so, it really shouldn't cause a significant delay to your order.

We do appreciate that this can be inconvenient, particularly if you are living in a very different time zone, but I am sure you will agree that it is better for us all to be safe, than to run the risk of rampant fraud.

I hope this helps, but please do not hesitate to contact me directly if I can assist with anything else.

Sincerely

I've made several orders from B H Photovideo before, and yes - the first time you make an order, they'll want credit card verification. In my case though, IIRC, all they asked for was a scan of my card.

Ordering time with B H Photovideo: my experience: 24 to 48 hours upon ordering for processing + 72 hours for delivery to doorstop.

both pricing from b&h and adorama can be quite competitive so one just have to do some research before buying. other than that, i find the delivery time is quite acceptable when u can get answers like "dunno", "maybe", "no stock", "???" from your local clueless retailers.

i have ordered some items from adorama via amazon, delivery to local US address is free which i like... but hope you guys can arrange for lower cost courier to sgp in the future... cheers...

i once ordered something from a Popular Shop here in clubsnap, thought give them chance cos they seemed quite nice.

their head honcho promised me that it will be here in a week. i was overseas, had to use skype to call them every two days after a week.. and everytime is, should be here in two more days..

in the end i got fed up, order from cathay, arrived in the time stipulated, slightly more expensive only, and they even called my friend who was helping me pick up the item to tell her the item was there, i no need to chase.

now i am wary of people who smile too much :bsmilie:

Absolutely agree. The service from even the reputable local retailers can be a hit or miss outside the one or two which offer consistently exemplary service, e.g. John 3:16. I've had good luck with them myself, but reading the posts in the other forums does make me wonder whether I've just been extraordinarily lucky.

All that's required to order confidently from B&H and Adorama is really just doing a lot of homework first to find out the equipment quality + local service center honoring international warranties or willing to service equipment you purchased from online retailers. These days I far prefer to order from these retailers than buy local.

oh, and the item, they email me after 3 weeks say it is here,

i told them, too bad, wait too long and you cannot keep promise, have a nice day!!!

there is no perfect camera retailer in sgp. but at least there are some who strive to get there. then there those who always tell me theres no stock for whatever i wanna look for and cant offer any solutions or alternatives.

If you can buy directly from a factory, they will be more cheaper..:D

I think for online shopping, most of us can understand the importance of 'verification time' to ensure security and prevent fraud. I just bought a camera bag from Adorama and it took like 2 days before approval was given, not too bad considering I'm a first timer at Adorama.

But prior to ordering to Adorama, I actually made an order wth B&H. They came back to me requesting that I send them the front and back copies of my credit card saying that this is necessary to 'protect the card holder'. I replied back telling them that this will actually exposed me to higher risk of credit card fraud cause we couldn't be sure who will get hold of my credit card images. I asked them to verify the authenticity of my credit card with HSBC in USA and if they can't verify it themselves or is reluctant to process my order, just cancel it and I will go buy with other online store. Next email from them is an order cancellation. No hard feelings, I went to buy from Adorama instead and now my bag is on the way to S'pore :D

One shop's lost, another shop's gain :bsmilie:

I have been buying many items thru the net from B&H and even once visited the NY super store! Service is highly reliable and efficient too. If your order to be delivered to an Asian country ( Singapore, Sri Lanka etc.) shipping may cost a lot! What I do is let the item/s to deliver to a US address where I have friend, If it is smaller in size let him to send by air mail otherwise to carry along when he visits me. Most items have free shipping within the US.

I would say if you are located in the US go with amazon. I have a prime membership and everything I order comes in 2 days. Its great! Not to mention all of the exclusive discounts.

Cool, this forum is getting notorious, even a US retailer has an account with a Singapore website.

I don't think that Adorama is posting here has anything to do with this forum being 'notorious'. It doesn't take much for customer service to do online searches at the popular enthusiast sites, and CS is just one of many such.

That said, it's nice though to see the retailer here. More channels of communication to customers is always good.
