The lack of sharpness is quite a characteristic of the SuperCCD. The sharpness will be there on print, not when pixel-peeping. The percieved SuperCCD advantage is meant for prints.

though "grainy" i seem to get lots of details captured compared to my previous Sony which appear sharp and crisp

hmmm... iso 80 very grainy meh?
i bought mine when it first came out, i dont have this problem. i only get visible grain at 400 above. even 800 looks good.

softness - sometime is because of focusing problem. 9500 very very very auto bad focusing. try maunal focus and press the center button. or manual with the zoom-in function.
sometime also bcause of poor lighting that causes the focusing problem.

i agreed on the good quality and sharpness when printing out the images (especially at fujifilm shop ).. dont know why... on screen look sharp but printed out look even sharper.. -_-"

try to play around with the different focus mode.. center, multi, area.
use photoshop USM also very good.

I took some pics at the Aerospace show and it seems this camera does a reasonably good job under good lighting condition. I have to test out with a few more shoots before I confirm this. Here is the link.

Only, under low light conditions, the autofocus tends to be bad. I will monitor closely for the next few weeks and post my findings.

You can see the ISO from the exif data. It was 100.

send to service centre, they change the len assy, now abit better but still
soft, misktake i sell my s5000,the s5000 picture was very sharp, most of the
s95000 picture taken need pp to sharpen.

er, anyone can recommend a good flash for 9500?
