That would be very strange, because Nikon USA doesn't provide international warranty for Digital equipment in the first place. Perhaps the seller inserted a wrong warranty card?

The Nikon USA warranty will be honored at authorized Nikon service centers outside the United States as long as you have the yellow copy of the Nikon USA warranty and your sales receipt from a dealer in the USA. This international warranty only applies to products that are covered under a Nikon International warranty (film SLR cameras and Nikkor lenses). Digital products are not covered under an international warranty and the local service facility may charge for any repair work.

The key to the validity of the warranty is a sales receipt from the country in which you purchased the equipment. If you purchase equipment in Europe where the Nikon Worldwide Warranty applies, copies of the sales receipt and this warranty are necessary to obtain warranty service in the USA. Buying the equipment with a Nikon Worldwide Warranty in the USA is not recommended because that warranty is not valid in the USA without a sales receipt from an overseas dealer and is not valid outside the USA with a USA sales receipt.

No no...the point is. There is no Worldwide/International warranty for DSLRs provided in the first place.

Worldwide/International mean the same thing, it applies for film products and lenses, but not for digital equipment.

it is like saying they only want to protect the local market for digital products, and not that for non-digital.

Is the question on the definition of International Warranty or the reason behind DSLR not having International Warranty?

If its the later, someone had already pointed out. Its to protect market from grey imports. Chances are the pricing of DSLR maybe different in various markets inorder to stay competitive. So local warranty is one of the mechanism to protect the market for countries like Singapore that encourages free trade and does not stop parallel imports.

I've been a Nikon user since my first camera, a Nikon FM which I bought more that 20 years ago. I have no issues with Nikon and still find it to be the better brand that I'll stick with ( though I still wish that they'll come up with a FF cam ).

Below is something which a friend and I were talking about over coffee and I do find it strange.

I hope that CSers can add their views and those in the know maybe provide some info. At the risk of some CSers who may slam me, here goes:

Is Nikon SG/Nikon Srevice Ctr part of the Nikon worldwide group?

Why is it that Nikon SG will not honour Nikon DSLR cameras bodies bought overseas with international warranty but will honour Nikon Lens? Lens get full warranty when bought overseas with an international warranty.

This is an INTERNATIONAL warranty and it should mean that Nikon will honour the warranty no matter where in the world you sent it in for repair so long as you can find a Nikon Service Ctr.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
