I hate to say this but I also wonder how many members here are using avatars that are not their own work.

I've always used my own avatar, but I think people generally accept that avatars are not necessarily the work of the person using it.

Oh, by the way, I hate to say this but this is a trend that is seen in forums world-wide, not just "here" wherever "here" is.

My avatar is from a pic taken by my friend, and I have seeked his permission in doing so

He didn't response to this, didn't bother to remove the leeched pictures, maybe think that you guys will get tired and get sick of making noise, and all will go away eventually, so nothing will happen in the end.

Some of the people posting before me are talking legal action, compensation, but step back a little? You're trying to "teach a lesson" to a young man whom you all know has not gone to National Service. Are you trying to bully or resorting to scare tactics on someone who you know isn't mature or worldly enough to put up resistance?

Or do you think he is just a convenient person to be made an example of?

You might say, "Oh, but I've NEVER infringed someone else's copyright, so I am qualified to get all huffy and indignant about this breach of intellectual property!" but do let me know if your computer has not one single files (be it computer program, video, or MP3 or some other media) that complies with all the associated copyrights entitled to it.

Maybe what you can do it to leave a comment in his flickr telling him that this photo isn't taken by him?

I am very unhappy with his act.
I also don't agree with those who talk about letting him off as he is just a kid who has not even gone to NS.For your information, one of the photos that he has stolen comes frm a 14year old boy.

His message was sent to me, 20-03-2006, 1705hrs.
Another PM has been sent to ask him to remove the photos.

ok, i'm trying to be nice of which obviously i failed to do so.
personally, i've suffered from such acts of plagiarism before during schooling days. i can tell u that it is not a very nice feeling to see ur own art work being displayed prominently by the thief who claimed that its his own hardwork and all.

In it, he is claiming the cockpit shot to be his... at that point in time, I questioned his supposed flight route and the actual aircraft heading in the photo. He brushed it off with some excuse abt military airbases and I let it go at that. I should've known though.... he claimed the shot was taken by a 300 f/2.8...

It's obvious that he is an outright cheat. Airliners.net has been informed.

I had only once used a pic that isn't my work. I just asked the owner and he agreed. That was in another forum.
