Is the S5 Pro still a worthwhile buy?

I've always been intrigued by the colors produced by the FUJIFILM cameras.. was amazed by it the very first time I saw what it could do.. The other thread showing pics straight out of cameras was especially tempting..

Anyway, not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I also see the Oly users raving about its colors.. Anyone got any experience to compare the two?

i think what it means by nicer is that, the blue is more blue, red is more red, and green is more green, more punchy colours.

btw guys. how does the nikon ittl flashes work with the S5pro? i have got a SB600 and i was wondering if i can wirelessly trigger with it still??

Nope. Windows and Mac OS only.

damn lol thanks.. :)

The S5 Pro works seamlessly with Nikon i-TTL, wireless commander and CLS. You can use Speedlights SB400, SB600, SB900, SB-R200, R1C1 and SB900.

For older Nikon Speedlights, they will work in 'M', 'A' and rear curtain sync modes

I don't know. You must check it out yourself. However, I know that Nikon MB-D200 will take 4 AA batteries.

nope cannot..

not sure about 3rd party grips. you need to get nikon's mb-d200 battery grip for the s5 pro. the grip can hold up to 2 fuji np-150 batteries or 6 AA batteries in a tray that comes with the grip. nikon batteries will not work.

Since I use Canon system at work, I can compare and conclude that images from the Canon EOS 1Ds MK II and 5D are visibly sharper. However, this is an unfair comparison as both cameras are full-format DSLRs.

Understandably too, as both of them have a higher native resolution, one at 16MP, the other at 12MP, while the S5 is essentially a 6MP camera with 12 million photosites.

Compared to a run of the mill 6MP camera however, the S5 supposedly performs admirably and gives better IQ.

I used both the s3pro and E1,E510,E330. colors is very subjective. The WB of the E1 and s3pro are both very good. As for colors, both me and my wife prefer the olympus colors.

One gripe I has with fujifilm is the size of its raw files. Other 12meg raw files are so much smaller than fujifilm's raw.

fuji's raw files maybe twice the size of other brands' raw files, but the amount of additional information that you can retrieve from the fuji raw is really amazing.

i did several tests with s5 pro (25meg raw)

and later compared the results against nikon d3 (12meg raw):

If you read my posting #185 carefully, I did mention the word 'WIRELESS' commander.

than what grip to use>?

To allow the photographer to use two NP-150 batteries simultaneously, or to switch to four AA size batteries when needed.

also how many shots per charge??

If you don't use a VR lens, you can get about 450 to 500 shots per charge easily. With a manual focus lens, 600 shots per charge is not a problem.
