1. I got the WB settings wrong hence the Red-filter-like results. (Needed heavy PS to fix it!)
2. I m using Cokin P(0007) IR filter.
3. The darker part on the top of the photo is due to different clouds.
4. There is some patches in the pavilion. Dunno why?? (Its NIR anyway)
5. I m not using the kit lens. Some standard Minolta zoom lens.

Rgds,

Can use autoWB?

Use RAW, and in raw conversion, adjust color temp to 2000 - 2800 K... or directly adjust color temp for jpegs...

Yup... KM5D is capable of doing IR photo...
Please have a look at my pic in the link below:

Taken using Hoya R72; F/3.5; 8s

U have to do custom white balance first before shooting...

Cheers :)

Great to hear tt!!! :D

Notice that u're using kit lens & Hoya R72 to take ur pic... Care to share how u do the custom white balance? I've tried (with the same lens & filter) but wasn't successful... Keep getting error msgs instead...

My qn is: Do u CWB with the IR filter attached OR w/o??? I was told to do it with the IR filter attached...

You were told right! CWB with the IR on.

Use CWB or as explained by eawtan. If you get a error message when doing CWB, is probably there is too many different tones in the sample. Try to point ur camera to the sky or green leaves.

The first time I tried doing the WB without the IR filter, results is 'RED' as posted. Then have to resort to Channel Mixture and Selective Color in PS to fix it. Later, I did my CWB with the IR filter on and it turn out more like a NIR with minimum PS required.

Thanks again to eawtan and the rest for sharing your tips. ;)

Yup... CWB is with the filter attached.
I tried many times doing CWB by shooting to the sky or leaves (handheld) and still get the error message.
Finally, little bit desperate than i put the camera on tripod, compose my photo and did the CWB and it was successful :o
What I did was:
1. set to Manual exposure, which in my case was 8s, F/3.5, ISO 100.
2. Put camera on tripod and compose. IIRC, the spot metering area was in the leaves or sky.
3. Do the CWB with filter attached; u will see that the colour of the photo is already change when you shoot during the CWB process.
4. Save the WB.
5. Ready to shoot :)

Hope this help

How come must cut?

Cut to make it into circle then put it in normal circle ring filter, so u don't need a cokin filter holder.
One CS fellow provide this service. Can check in IR forum...

Wait until u ready to upgrade lor... anyway dpreview forums mention that having an IR Pass filter causes red cast on shadow areas.
