k mount is pentax mount, right ?
You can try TCW for the m42-K mount adapter.
They shd have and shd be about $30.
Only the Nikon one which has a glass element is more expensive at about $45.

Not sure why there aren't any russian k-mount lenses.
Maybe thats the way things happened in the past.
Why would u want k-mount lens ?
Its more flexible if you get m42 screw mount as w the right adapter
it will fit almost all manual bodies eg nikon, minolta, Canon FD etc
That way, if you get tired of your k mount body you can buy a Nikon
body and still use the lens.
Also if russian lenses are modified to k mount (some are modified specific for Nikon F mount) its usually more expensive

Less flexible & more expensive so to me it doesnt make sense
That's why I only buy russian lens which are M42, can share share between my FE & X700 !

Yes there are M42 to EOS adapters.
Note however that some EOS bodies cannot meter when you attach M42 lens.
For eg my Canon EOS 30 doesnt meter w my M42 lens.
Metering is at least 3 stops off.
The EOS 3 meters ok though.

Hence its better to use manual bodies for M42 lenses.
My Nikon FE and Minolta x700 works great w them !

wouldn't this be because, to use TTL metering properly, you have to initially open up the aperture at it widest, take the reading, and adjust the exposure accordingly?

Yep..that's called stop-down metering.
Usually I do shutter priority..i.e. set the shutter speed to 1/60 or 1/125
then stop down the aperture to match needle for the FE.

Doesnt work at all for the EOS 30.

the EOS 30 is well known to have a bug for not being able to meter with manual lenses.

EOS 1v, 3 and other bodies, including the digital variants, work fine.

One thing to note is China (Beijing at least) sells a lot of manual and semi manual SLRs that uses the Pentax k-mounts, and u can buy these bodies for a song.

i got a Phenix SLR + 50 f1.7 for about 100+ SGD the last time i went to Beijing. Din really use it much in the end though. :P

So those K mount lenses can be put to good use!

dark,

i think you are right. if they were made for k-mount, it's probably removing the M42 ring and fix with a k-mount ring... then it is the same as making M42 and screw it to the k-adapter or whatsoever adapter. you are so smart! clap-clap.
