Is RP $1900 too high?

So many views but no takers...is it because for a 6 month old 300mm F4 L IS USM lens the reserve is too high? I lens was purchased in May for $2299 (the receipt from CP is available).

If so, what do you think would be a reasonable RP? Some have offered 1500 but I think loosing $700 after using the lens a couple of times was a bit high.

This is more of a 'want' than a 'need' lens. I perceive the lens as only having so much value and if you are willing to sell at 1.5k I will 'want' it and come your place collect immediately.

Probably the main reason is that this is a so-called "specialised" lens. I think a fair price is about $2,100 to $2,150. But since there is NO demand, market force is telling you that at $1,500, there will be a demand from someone, who "thinks" that he needs and can afford it. Some photog may think that F4 is not enough for their shooting style and they prefer the f2.8 version. However for popular lens like the ef70-200mm, there will always be ready buyers who prefer to wait by the side, and the loss will be minimal.
As for the supply side, if you think losing $700 is not wise, and that you can afford not to sell, then it is market force that you should keep it until someone offer you a higher price, a price you cannot resist.......this is "opportunity cost".

$1.9k is very closed to how much one pay if u get brand new one from HK...order online and sent to your doorstep, courier paid by HK side...

If you are not desparate for money wait for the right buyer but remember this, there are some buyers out there will be on the look out for your lens. Besides, if you wait too long, sooner or later the price will drop to $1,500.00 although your lens maybe sitting on your drying cabinet but who knows whether your lens has been used or not.

If you keep a lens too long, there will be bound to have newer, cheaper and better lens out in the market. Besides, fungus may start to grow in your lens as your it needs to be taken out to be "heat up" or "suntan" as UV rays destroys fungus as fungus grows in the dark.

So although you maybe better off selling at $1,500 but why sell it when you still can used it. As for me, I have never sold any of my camera equipment before. Why? For me I think it grows into me when I used my equipment. No matter how desparate I want some money, I will never sell my equipments.

My first camera is a Yashica range finder. Until today, it is still in great condition. Sometimes I will take ouy and shoot. It's good to own some antique camera. Someone actually approach me to buy my Yashica! I cannot believe it as it's really a basic camera.

I remember buying it for only $250.00 17 years ago and it was then I embark the career into Photography. So selling off the equipment is ok and not ok. If you think your lens is really sitting in the cabinet, sell it! If not I am sure by the time you want to sell the lens at $1,500.00, it will not worth that price anymore.

As long it is a used equipment, price will drop for sure. Especially if the demand is low. Never regret what you buy loh..........Just used it. Did you buy out of sudden or for a special usage? So it's your call..........!

Don't regret buying this lens. It's good and the images are sharp n contrasty. However, I have little use for it as I've obtained a 2.8 version of the same focal length. That's why I'm selling it off. I might just keep it cause it's lighter than the alternative I suppose. Unless I can sell it for the price that I'm looking at or at least closer to it.

Fully agreed with Promiage on this.
I wouldn't mind buying this lens at $1,550 from you ... don't really feel a need for this long range but I juz want to experience this lens first hand.
