is nikon suitable for beginner?

Why not a mirrorless like the Nex cameras? The Nex 6 was great for me when I first started out a year ago. Covered me nicely every step of the way. Great camera.

Heh the Nex 6 has an electronic peephole! But some people dont like it for some reason. Works great for me though.

But your 5300 will definitely AF faster def a good buy nonetheless.

Can't stop admiring the capability of dslr. I think I have missed out a lot when I am still using a point and shoot camera

Still trying to figure out how to read the meter.

Does anyone know how to see the exposure setting from the picture we have taken?

I don't mind red. I mean, my headphone is red in color, I have heaps of red shirts and too bad my 7D and EM5 don't come in red or I would have jumped to it

I've been looking up at google for nikon for beginners. And found out it is not suitable at all due to lack of exposure simulation.
But I really like D5300. So I hope to get some advice regarding this exposure simulation.
I find it hard for beginner to learn the exposure without the simulation.

Brand doesn't matter. Most so if you are a beginner.

It's not difficult to nor is it required of a camera to have exposure simulation for you to learn how to expose your pictures properly.

In fact, it makes you too lazy to actually think about the correct settings.

Learn how your camera uses its metering modes and how to control aperture and shutter speed. NOT rely on the camera to simulate everything for you

If using PC, in windows explorer, click on the filename and you will see a preview of the photo on the bottom left of screen with details of exposure setting of the photo. In MAC, click filename then press cmd and i keys to get the info.

The EXIF data is captured with the image and you can check that easily.
