Yes Video Mode is very important to me!

It is SO important that I will be getting Canon's next FF camera as it should have HD Video mode. That and a few 16GB CF cards....

Hahaha.... suggest you get the next HD VideoCam.... cheaper some more :bsmilie:

But Camera maker are not going to risks being consider 'behind' their competitor just because we don't 'demand' it.... look at all those years of 'Mega Pixel War'..... If Canon comes out with a 5MP camera.... Nikon would answer with a 6MP version.

Canon has a 21MP EOS1DSmkII. Nikon answered with a 12MP D3 but and started playing the ISO game instead. ;p

Oops... confused.. should be 16MP. Still Nikon is smart not to be competing in the megapixel race.

You really think so?

I believe the only reason Nikon is not competing in the megapixel race is because they don't have a high resolution sensor yet. They will. It's only a matter of time.

How much MP is Sony Alpha A900 suppose to have ??:sweatsm:

The new video feature totally ruined the main purpose of a DSLR camera, a DSLR camera is for taking photos not videos!

Sorry, but I disagree.... It would be true if that DSLR camera could no longer produce good Photos due to the Movie Mode.

If the ablility of the DSLR to take Photo is not affected.... Video Mode would be nothing more than an extra feature. Just like Dust Reduction system, Live View.... etc. And I believed that alot of 'Old Bird' felt the same way when Film SLR gives way to Digital SLR :bsmilie:

No.. It's because they didn't have optics which do justice to the high resolution sensor at the corners. Now they do with the introduction of several new lenses. We'll probably see the rumoured 24MP camera soon.

But the point I'm trying to make is, there is no need to join the megapixel race.

That I would agree.... I don't print anything more that A4 size.... pointless to go beyond 10MP for me (even with cropping). But again..... don't think Camera maker is waiting for Our Permission to add more and more Pixels to their new lines of camera

Definitely not.. But people are asking for cleaner high ISO and one of the ways to do it is to reduce the pixel density like what Nikon did for the D3... maybe they couldn't find a better solution. ;p

Hopeful the Camera maker will understand this soon.... But I think with adv tech..... cleaner high ISO will be with us soon

...
Maybe, maybe one day (...my crystal ball says that give or take 5 years time...) DSLRs will be equipped with not just movie mode, but with mp3 player, voice recording function, wi-fi connection, GPS features, direct Internet upload to networking sites,...etc! LoL
...

The 1D series offer voice tagging for your images already...it's just seldom used. I haven't even used mine once. Haha.

i think you'll look like an absolute idiot trying to take a movie with an SLR.

haha.
