Is it safe to drive to JB?

Worst case scenario:

1. A knife was sticked up to your neck and you are beaten up.
2. Your wife or GF who was with you in the robbery was raped in front of you.
3. Your possession like money and other valuables was also taken away.
4. You and your wife (Worst still if only you) were finally abandoned in the a pitch-dark secluded woods (Still naked)
5. After more than 1 day, you managed to seek help after coming out of the woods (Still naked)
6. After the traumatic experience, you were finally sent home after a lengthy statement at the police station.
7. Back home, your wife/gf and yourself had to seek psychiatrist help.
8. You have no car to drive and your lose at least $15k even after insurance coverage.
9. Some months later, your wife/gf was found pregnant (But not yours)
10. Your wife/GF have to seek medical/psychiatric assistance.
11. Your wife/GF refuse to have sex with you since that traumatic incident.


Are the above exaggerated? Well, if one has been reading the newspaper .... he should know that the above has happened many time before. Murder, rape and robbery are not uncommon (Though it can happen anywhere in the world). Just be careful where ever you go (Though careful also no use if your are a marked target), and pray that the worst case scenario does not ever befall you.

Maybe for those businessmen who need to travel JB frequently can consider buy another car, Proton model their local brand. So keep their BMW or Benz at home.

From the past months many SG car had been report stolen or rob in JB. Especially those SUV, MPV and Japanese model vehicle. Eg. Honda civic, BMW and Mercedes Benz…..

Some are even tow away while parking at holiday plaza or city square shopping centre basement car park. It happens on some roadside eating places too.

Do you do extra precaution like fitting a lock to your car steering wheel?
Avoid reveres parking and park your car head in first and steer the wheel to left or right to make it difficult and prevent being tow away?

What does the Singapore government advise you?

The Australian government has a NO Go list for its citizens who intend to travel abroad. I think the list of danger spots can be accessed through the net for the Australians.

You may have to contact the department of foreign affairs in Singapore for the official assessment of the situation plus what you've read here to make up your mind.

Nobody can't guarantee your safety because we cant' even guarantee our own safety at home. This is not to say we don't trust our wives' cooking. :bsmilie: :bsmilie:
