The promo price is about S$3825 with a free ever-ready case. I called and asked already. Too rich for me still :(

Cathay quoted $4950.

$4950?!?!? Did Hasselblad increase their prices this year? I thot last year Cathay sold only at below $4200?

i havent been following the financial news but perhaps the high euro exchange rate could be the culprit?

Looks like rising oil prices and exchange rate uncertainty can also affect cameras not just cars. :bsmilie:

think so. promo starts tomorrow.

I'm debating whether to buy used xpan or new xpan ii as well.
Between used xpan and new xpan ii, will still be $1300.

keltzar,

the $3825 inclusive of GST ?

My numbers could be wrong ... it could be closer to $3880 ... did not
ask about GST. Why don't you call Pro Photo and let us know?

I THINK it does include GST.

Although I am not a Leica M user, it would be a shame if Leica AG went under because of this competition from Zeiss. This is a big blow to Leica's premium pricing strategy.

Maybe we will see Japan made Leica lenses soon.

Do u have their tel number ??

i can't find it on the net leh..

I just wonder how well this Zeiss Ikon RF camera will be?! Just hope that it is not just another Rollei 35RF a big disappointment.
I dun think this Zeiss Ikon is a big blow to Leica. It just keep the market more fun and more lenses to play with.

A few more images of the Zeiss Ikon.

How come it looks like a minolta CLE ?? Not too attractive to my eyes.

Hmm. How come no rewind crank on the top plate. Looks like its at the bottom, which is one of the 2 curious circular features sticking out. Anyone got a picture of the bottom plate? What's the other circular feature for?

It is a shame that Zeiss is using Leica M-mount too! Since it is so good, it should continue with their out-dated and dead Contax IIa/b lens mount. :nono:

I just love that Elmar 5cm lens on my Leica IIIb.. ya I know it's a copy of the famous Zeiss Tessar lens, shame on Leica, but who care ?? ;)

Huh?! Leitz Elmar 5cm is a copy of Zeiss Tessar?? Any base onto that? Or just your mouth say so? :dunno:

"Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.
Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit." -- Proverbs 26:4,5

Hmm, to answer or not ?? :dunno:

Sorry, OT, but "lest he be wise in his own conceit"... here goes:

See: Carl Zeiss Lens Design
Quote: "The Tessar design was produced in 1902, and awarded a US patent in 1903. When the patent expired in 1920 there were many variants on the Tessar design released other companies, such as some of Kodak's Ektars and Schneider's Xenars. The famous Leica 50mm f/3.5 Elmar lens released in 1920 was a Tessar type lens...."

Truthfully, at the price, i would buy a brand new Contax G1 or G2. with all 3 lenses + the 21mm i would still have money for film.

I am still faithful to my contax!
