Is it every Canon user (pro, hobbyist ) want to own a white L lens?

WHITE Lens ? ... Not me.

Why people are getting confused between L lenses and White lenses? Very simply put, all white lenses are L lens but not all L lenses are white. Generally (if not ALL) white lenses are TELE lenses and there are many people like me, who don't require a tele lens.

There had been many and many L Vs non L discussions.

Nope it's not in my "wants".

Think most if not all the "whites" are long focal length lenses, something that I rarely use.

If I have to take events such as NDP or NUS RAG day, I simply rent them.

2evans, thanks for the info. I will probably rent one to try out before deciding if I will switch from 24-105.

Rented the 28-300L. Wow it weighs a ton. Very good lens but on a 1D mk2N they are too heavy for walkabout. I will stay with my 24-105L.

One of the reason why I got the Tamron VC version instead. The trade-off is the aperture 6.3 instead of F 5.6.

No. I only got black color lenses n m proud of them

135L

On a crop body, be prepare to have a pair of steady hands or have support for it.

OT: One of the reason why I prepare Canon/Nikon's IS/VR than Oly, Pentax, Sony..... it does have it composition.

I got one colour each so I can 'admire' both colours.

I tried it at the showroom just now, pretty much doable at ISO 800 and 1600 on my 7D, wide opened that is.

Omg, love this lens!

I tried the 135L at the showroom last week. I used it on my 5D classic and could hand hold comfortably at ISO 200 with aperture of 2.0. It is a nice sharp lens but the lighting in the showroom is not the best. I also tried the new 8-15L... sweet! BBB!

Agree that the lighting in the showroom is not the best which means it will perform even better with more light!

Was kinda choosing between the 135L and 70-200 f4L IS, but I guess the answer is pretty clear now. Wide aperture just rocks.

The lens itself is not very heavy, however if you are taking tight shot, one need to remain steady (lock elbow, control of breathing, etc). Given my age, this lens stay most of the time on my FF and not on my crop (also a 7D).

Personally comparing it with the 85L, this lens excel in it's focusing (85L is slow in comparison), have a smoother bokeh ( due to it's longer focal length ) and easier to get focus (try a 1.2 lens and you know it take alot of practice not to be OOF)

Test shot taken with the 135 wide open, testing foreground and background OOF
