Is Image Sensor cleaning important?

On page 58 it mentioned that under fx mode (with fx lens) the screen should be fully bright without any gray out area or frame outline. If u set to dx mode, a frame outline will be shown showing the crop frame of dx. The gray out area will only shown when set in dx mode and with a6 AF point illumination set to off. The set I'm holding has the gray area regardless of whatever setting.

With an FX lens, you don't have any option on the camera except FX mode (duh).

With a DX lens, you have an option for the DX auto-crop.

Since Sigma 50/1.4 is an fX lens, it's puzzling why you see some dark/grey area.

With an fx lens u r still able to use dx crop mode. Tested and proven.

Sounds like your camera is faulty :)

Actually you do bro... it is in the 2nd setting... underneath the auto DX crop menu item.

Mine is totally bright unless in DX mode, and a6 is turn to off. In all other situations, it is bright. You have a faulty unit.

Ooooh...
Really? Must double-confirm

edit: my bad... just confirmed by reading the manual (pg 58) that indeed camera can be forced to record only DX image area, regardless of the lens mounted.
