Aiz...

The argument will never stop.
Some like less DOF. Some like longer focal length.
Different system to suit different needs.
Some prefer larger formats, some are just contented with small point & shoots.

There is no one system that suits everyone. Let's just leave it at that.

Peace... :)

My sentiments exactly. I was following this thread and was seeing ppl bashing this and that brand. There is no camera which can satisfy the requirements of everyone. So go out do some research and get the one cam which you feel comfortable with. No point in bashing other brands as it wont achieve anything.

Happy shooting.

IT Show OVER liao lah... :bsmilie:

Hmmm....... Dunno June got this question or not?

"Is E300 Worth To Buy in PC Show?"

"Is E3 Worth To Buy in Sitex?"

:bsmilie: I am Crazy here.

I am considering buying either an E300 or an EOS 350D.

One problem I have in all my previous digital cameras including Nikon4300, Minolta F100 & Dimage 7I & G600, Fuji 201, Canon A20, Sony P10 and Olympus E20 and now Pentax S50 is that when I give my photos to be printed at labs in 4R I get the top and bottom cropped. Now some how I am used to allowing some leeway when I take photos myself.

But the real problem is when I let people to take photos for me sometimes they take photos from head to toe without leaving any space. I have had many photos in my sons birthday spoiled this way.

I think one of the factor that is making me almost deciding towards the E300 is the four thirds form factor. I understand that there will not be any croppings if I print the E300 photos in 4R.

Can some one who have used the E300 can enlighten me on this.

Regards

Jahir

you could ask the photo lab to print in "digital 4r size" which is 4:3 form factor. and insist that they DO NOT CROP your pic at all.

Hello Jahir,

Actually the format of 4R fits 2/3 format better than 4/3. However, when I print to 4R from my E1, I can specify to the lab to fit the image within the boundary of the 4R paper. The result is vertical white border along the shorter side of the print, but no part of the image is loss. The option that appears to have caused you headache seems to be the 'crop' option.

I should also clarify that the original premise of the 4/3 format suitability for prints referred to the 8R/8x10"/A4 size. It appears that this is a common size in the professional print industry. Images using the 4/3 system will have much less part of its image cropped that those based on the 2/3 system. The loss of image data from the crop for 8R is one reason Olympus explains why output from its 5MP E1 is close to the 6MP of its competitors, because roughly 1MP of image info is lost in the crop process.

Hope this explains.

Cheers,

I think, only 4R is 3:2, the rests like 3R, 6R, 8R etc aren't. Bigger sizes like 6-10R suffer less cropping on 4:3!

I don't really understand the print industry why having so many different aspect ratio. 2:3 is 1:1.5 and 3:4 is 1:1.33. Here they are:

2R 2"x3" 1:1.5 no cropping for 2:3 system
3R 3.5"x5" 1:1.43 both system need to crop
4R 4"x6" 1:1.5 no cropping for 2:3 system
5R 5"x7" 1:1.4 both system need to crop
6R 6"x8" 1:1.33 no cropping for 4/3 system
8R 8"x10" 1:1.25 less cropping for 4/3 system
10R 10"x12" 1:1.2 less cropping for 4/3 system
11R 11"x14" 1:1.27 less cropping for 4/3 system
12R 12"x15" 1:1.25 less cropping for 4/3 system

Of course, there are S8R, S10R and S12R for the 2:3 system.

As far U can see this 4/3 is the future...

Cos Oly know that the future will be in more Megapixel in the CCD or CMOS.

The More Megapixel the more U can blow up Ur Pictures.
BTW to me I dun print in Hardcopy one.... I rather store in Softcopy cos "save space" and it is easily to search. :p
