a bro in USA just bought new set from amazon at only 450USD and a new KM7D set only 330USD.

If you could get your hands on one, why not?

It is one hell of a camera, even considering Oly's potential new offerings in 2007.

which is your backup cam? e300 or e1?

E-300.

I use it when resolution is necessary i.e. large group shots, and the E-1 for everything else.

I'm quite a nature boy, so with the E-1 being weatherproofed, it is a big plus.

To add to that, I'm so used to all the dedicated buttons on the E-1 that I find changing settings on the E-300 terribly slow and tedious.

If I could spare the change, I'd probably get another E-1 before they finally sell out.

It's actually quite amazing that there are so many E1 has a following even though it is not a new camera. I seldom develop prints and 8R max if i do so the E1's resolution is suficient.

The pictures from the E-1 uprezzes quite well; from what I know and heard, it starts to get slightly pixellated from A2 and larger (but yet to try it myself!).

But I definitely know that it prints on A3 great!

Well, as far as cams go, it doesn't need to be new to produce quality pictures. Sure it may be run slower than the new ones, but it is built properly; it feels like something you could keep for years. The new cams nowadays feel "disposable".

Another thing I have to add is that the 100% viewfinder on the E-1 is addictive; it aids composition to a very large degree. With it I can frame the shot exactly the way I want it.
With the E-300, distractions stray into the edge of the picture sometimes.

I second that. The E-1 is technically "slower" but that does not make it any "lesser".

Back then, I was very happy with my e-300 until a fren let me try out his E-1 for a while, the feel, the construction, the 100% and brighter viewfinder. everything about it juz made me get an E-1. Was very reluctant to let go of my e-300 then but needed the cash.

Yeah I agree, if I have some cash to spare, I would definately get another E-1, it's definately a keeper even in years to come. In fact given the current price, I do not see any compelling reason to get any of the new entry level dslrs that's more expensive and feels "disposable" other than if you really really need the extra megapixels and maybe that extra bit of processing speed
