As for the IR filter, what lens are you using? Because maybe some of us may have some IR filters to lend. Just a note, the Hoya R72 IR filter cost raise exponentially with the thread size, so you may want to just try out first before investing on a filter.

Hi there,

Basicially for IR photography, we usually need the following equipment
1. Camera (That is capable of doing IR, there is actually a list in the sticky thread here)
2. Tripod (Because the IR filter cut off most of the visible light, the shutter speed is rather slow, hand-held may be a problem... unless you have very stable hands like our moderator Teerex who can do it hand-held :sweat: )
3. IR filter (There is 2 very commonly used IR filter, the Hoya R72 and Cokin P007)
4. Cable Release or Remote (Optional)

These will be the equipment you need. One more thing that you need is to know how to set your White Balance, that's all. Then you are all set to do IR.

As for the Hoya R72 IR filter price, for
1. Kit lens 18-70mm (67mm Thread Size) - around $80
2. 55-200mm (IIRCm should be 52mm Thread Size) - around $35

Before I forgot, there is one last very important thing that is needed for IR Photography is good weather and sun. Cheerz.
