IR Hot Spots?

I loaned a D70 from my friend to play around with, and wanted to do some UWA shots. Tried with the following lenses but keep getting hot spots which I had to PP away..

Using Tamron 11-18mm F/4.5-5.6

#1 Hot Spot in center

#2 After pp, but contrast lost in the center where the red patches were

Using Sigma 12-24mm F4.5-5.6

#3 Red patches in the sky, even after many attempts to pp away

#4 After pping away the red patches

#5 Downed the red channel saturation

Found it to be very time consuming to pp away the red patches, my friend told me its my lens that is not suitable. Is there any budget UWA for IR?

Try not to use 3rd party lens. Also, I think there is a list of "IR compatible" lenses used to be maintained by T Rex in one of the sticky threads. You may want to check out the list.

Thanks for the reply! Actually that was the first thread I referred to, but they didn't list the lenses that I used. Just not sure if I had done anything wrong.

I used the Nikkor 18-70mm as well, was listed to be one of the better lenses for IR. It seemed to perform better but still produced the hotspots at certain angles.
