IR for Sony Nex 3N using IR filter ?

Hi

Interested in IR photography for a long time. Now finally get a Nex 3N wan to try IR but don't want to do a full conversion.
Just to check with the espert here if this camera is good for IR photography ?
Intend to purchase a Hoya IR filter.(R72)

If you don't want to do a full conversion, you will have to check whether it's suitable for IR as it is.

To check: point a TV remote at it and press & hold, for example, the volume up/down button. If you see a very bright light emitting from the remote then it's suitable, the more overblown the light the more suited it is. If you see just a (weak)light which is very well controlled, not blown out then you'll have to consider converting.

If you're not sure how strong the light should be, use your HP camera (which tends to have very weak IR-blocking filter) to gauge.
