How is international warranty applicable in Singapore?

Say, I buy a camera from Hong Kong, and I buy it with international warranty. What is there to prove that I have international warranty? Warranty card? Receipt? Anything else?

For camera bodies there is no such thing as international canon warranty. If there is a lot of company or ppl will be doing imports for the camera body already. so far international warranty i heard of is by 3rd party company in U.S. by mack. Even they give you a canon warranty card in the box it does not mean anything.

I see.....So even if they give warranty, it's provided by the supplier or any other 3rd party, but NEVER by Canon, correct?

Canon's camera body only has local warranty. If you buy it in Hong Kong, it is being covered in Hong Kong only. However, for some reason, Canon's lenses do have International warranty so there is no difference if you buy your Canon lenses in Singapore or Hong Kong. Of course, there is a big difference in price. ;p

I kinda figured that lenses do have international warranty, but only camera bodies are the exception.

Thanks everyone for your help!

I have another question!

How is international warranty for lenses documented? I think it's more than just a receipt from the store you bought from....

You have to register your purchases with Canon online website. If you bought it from Hong Kong, you will need to register with the HK Canon website.

When you need to claim warranty repairs, you will need to present the International warranty and the original receipt together. I believe they can check them against their world-wide database to confirm the actual date/place of purchase.

if i buy the flash is international warranty,it is accept on singapore?

Not sure about other brands but Canon's Speedlites definitely have International warranty. I just got a 580EX II at S$590 in Hong Kong (compare to S$760 in Singapore). No difference in warranty service if I need to send it to Canon Singapore service centre.
