Upzzz for a good photography group =)

There's a lot of information about what you want, what you need, what the prospective photographer needs to be.

There's no mention at all about Avenue 8, the type of work you do, the type of company you are, the type of work you are offering. You might have a lot more success if you didn't list a string of requirements without actually telling people what they might be applying for...

why are the requirements "seriously biased" ?

Oh, and thanks for the url!

The strict requirements is to filter out people who just want a photography job not a career. We are only interested to train and teach people who intend to make this their commitment to pursue it for years to come. We have had interns that do not treat it seriously and we had to ask them to leave as they were wasting our time. So as to avoid all the unhappiness therefore the strict requirements. I hope you guys understand.

I'm 33 turning to 34 and married, so not eligible. So sad, can never be a pro once you are over 30.....

same ...i also interested.

I've seen a bunch of so-called 'pros' with 5Ds, 40Ds and a bag full of glass but still take lousy pictures. Take a look around at the bridal shops or even the portfolios of some modelling agencies and you know what I mean.

If you have a passion and the natural talent for photography, you don't need recruitment. What you really need is the right guidance/ tools and that can come in many forms - one of them is getting in touch with newsgroups and forums like this one and dpreview, guide books or even photographic courses (like the ones Canon have) etc.

Remember - You can study as much as you want, but learning to apply and practice makes perfect. You are only limited by your own creativity!

I'm no photography expert but not a bad one either!

Almost no knowledge on terms of photography but willing to commit...is there a possibility for this kind of people to come to work together with you??

Yes you still can but we are looking for a certain group of people only... I'm sorry coz there'll be a lot of sacrifice in terms of time and financially that you may have to bear if you have commitments to your family... Please understand... Thank you :)

I don't see why so many are kicking up a big fuss, the chance to join an established group like Avenue 8 doesn't come too often!

Hope you guys find somebody suitable soon. :)

I can't agree more with you...

But I've had interns from this route and started their own business but that was as far as they went. But since he came and join us, his skill improved in a very short period of time and now he is doing much better than when he was fighting the war alone.

Yes you can relay on books and forums which are good forms of getting good comments on your photos and learn from there but nothing beats practice. So with us you get countless opportunities to go on shoots with us to learn the real thing.

No offence but there is a big difference between treating photography as a hobby and taking it on as a career.

Hi, i am interested in the opportunity. can i find out more? hope to hear from you soon. thanks.

worst lah, those in their 40s no hope at all.. But wait.. if I dump in 100K, I would have easily set up a studio with : 2 sets of Nikon D3 - Lenses : 85mm f1.4/ 50mm F1.4 / 105mm VR Macro / 60mm Macro /70-200mm VR / 17-35mm /10-20mm Sigma / Optional : 14-24mm G Lens and the 24-70mm G Lens. (For Wedding Photography .. should be enough) + One set of Canon 1Ds MK III and 6 L Lens in the Pro Series.. this should take care of Agency Work yah..Also should be quite well equipped with Elinchrome Light Systems and covering quite a fair bit of necessary accessories...

So I think age should not be a problem lah, if you want to turn pro.. there are many ways I think and to I think this is discremination .. but of cause, it's your call after all on all those requirements you want...

What does these equipment got anything to do with turning Pro and this thread.

owning all these equipments does not make you a pro, but sure can make you feel better, just like buying a sport car but don't own a driving licence.

TS is recruiting aspiring junior photographers to join their company, I do not see the requirement of age as a discrimination, (do note they did not state the requirement of how many years of experience in professional photography).

anyway, I see this opportunity are hard to come by, given the background of this company is one of the leaders in this industry.
