Hi Learn2Photo, here is my DIY diffuser.

This is a cut-out of a Dishwashing Liquid Plastic Bottle. I just cut a hole which is almost the same size as the thread so that it will lock-on when i screw the Raynox.

Finally got a chance to take a close-up shot of this fella.... found him sleeping after the rain. i took a few snaps and after a while, this guy woke up for a few seconds, stared at me (this shot) then fell back into sleep...

As for your question, i'm using nikkor 50mm f/1.8D and Raynox DCR 250.
