Hi,

I am thinking of using the above-mentioned. I read some reviews and it seem that it is quite good.

Anyone of you using it? What's your opinion of it?

Regards

if you're thinking of the D2000 i'll recommend the sea & sea ys-110a, slightly more powerful and cheaper.

Thanks for the advice. I will look see look see.

If you can wait.. the YS110A is good but S&S has back orders since December 2009. There is no-stock in the market.

Quality wise.....YS110a - made in China...Inon - Made in Japan....

Bro are you from Oceanic focus? YS-110A is made in Japan. YS-17 is made in china.
YS-250 is made in Japan. I dunno new about YS1 & YS2, maybe made in China.

Built quality wise S&S has better design on battery compartment compared to Inon.

Hi all,

Thanks for your advice.

I have decided to try out Ikelite AF35 first because I am only diving once or twice a year.

Only the first batch of YS110a is made in Japan...Subsequently all the rest are from China....You will know where it is made as it is indicated in the strobe.

last year strobe purchased with "made in japan" insignia, is from first batch?
I am not sure now since all people I met using S&S YS-110a so far is MIJ. I am planning to get one more unit when the stock arrived.

how much does it cost argh?

I just have a look at the YS-01 that we rec'd yesterday, all are made in japan..Small compact good quality strobe with adequate power of GN20 and 100 degree coverage..... and best of all..come with target light unlike the Inon S-2000......And is cheaper than Inon S-2000

Sea and Sea YS-01

Hi,

Would you recommend the YS-01 over the S-2000? I too have been looking for a compact strobe and while I have been eyeing the s-2000 for quite sometime, the new YS-01 seems rather promising as well...

From the listed specs, they seem pretty similar in terms of power, and coverage with diffuser. the thing I realised is that the YS-01 has a fixed diffuser so comparing both with diffuser the S-2000 might end up to be 1/2 EV weaker?

Also, since both are optically sync only, would the wireless mode of the S-2000 make it more favourable than the YS-01, or is the wireless not as good as it was marketed to be?

I also know that the YS-01 has a target light that the S-2000 does not have but being rated 330 shots(ys-01) as compared to the s-2000s 450 shots, wouldn't that mean that using the target light would further lower the number of shots?

i am using the S2000 and having lots of problem with the wireless feature. keeps firing on its own. finally reverted to optical
