This is the first photo contest presented by the Indonesian Students Association in Singapore (PPIS) for 2008‐2009 periods.
The contest is aimed exclusively for any nationality to communicate the Indonesian culture and promote the diverse and unique Indonesian heritage through the use of visual literacy.
Conditions of Entry:
a. Entrant Criteria Indovers 2009 Photo Contest is open to all individuals around the world
b. Theme and Categories Theme: The Indonesian Within
Definition of the Theme
The Indonesian Within depicts any situation, place, tradition, or anything which can be
associated with Indonesian identity to be found only inside the boundaries of Republic of
Singapore.
Photographs must be able to demonstrate the contrasting idea of how a relatively
diminutive and dispersed Indonesian uniqueness can be preserved within its communities
in Singapore even though it is being relentlessly eroded and confined in a dominant and
governing Singapore society.
The original image must have been taken by the photographer, whatever photographic
medium is used. Any manipulation or modification to the original image is limited to minor
retouching of blemishes and must not alter the content of the original scene. Any
photographs taken outside Singapore are ineligible.
Categories:
Colours: Works that express your unique perspectives and creativity on the subject of proposed theme.
Black and White (monochrome): Works that convey photographers visual
literacy in a black and white work fitting from the very dark grey (black) to the
very clear grey (white)
c. Submission Procedures
Entries must be submitted in digital image format via the internet. Details regarding
submission of images are stated below. Each entrant may submit up to total of 4 images: 2
entries for each category.
d. Submission Period:
Entries received via the Internet will be accepted until 23:59, February 25th, 2009 Singapore Time.
Details on Submission and Format:
Maximum file size is 3MB with maximum (2,000 pixels on longer side)
File Format: 8 bit JPEG sRGB only; taken with any digital still cameras or scanned photographs taken with 35mm film cameras.
Maximum images submitted are 4: up to 2 images for each category.
All photographs must be taken inside Republic of Singapore.
Minimal digital image modification is allowed: burning, dodging, cropping, contrast, hue,
saturation, level, curve, dust removal.
The photographer must have the exclusive rights to the photographs submitted and is
responsible for having obtained any necessary permission relating the subject/ subject matter.
The organizer reserves the right to publish, reproduce, display, distribute, and show on screen any winning photograph on website, photo exhibitions, or any media which is under the management of the organizer. In all cases where such photographs are used, the organizer reserves the right to do so without obtaining the further prior permission of the winner and without any further compensation in any form.
In the event that an entry is found to break the entry requirements stated by the organizer, that entry will be disqualified. Entrants will, however, not be notified of such judgment.
Winners may later be requested to submit JPEG images with higher resolution for the purpose of production of publications and exhibitions related to the contest.
