This must be Oxarafoss. It is a lovely small waterfall. I took similar shot but not as well as the one you did!

Seljalandsfoss is one of the more famous (and photographed) waterfalls in Iceland. It towers at a height of 60m and is also unique in that visitors can actually follow a path and walk behind it.

Wiki info on Seljalandsfoss

Great framing. I did not manage to capture any useful behind the waterfall shot because the rain and the waterfall kept drenching the camera before any shot can be done!

Love this photo, it show how small of a human being.

Thank you. Glad you liked the impact.

Yup. It was Oxarafoss. The waterfalls were quite a pain to photograph closed up, I have two big wads of toilet paper stuffed in my cargo pants to wipe down the lenses after every few seconds.

Am still looking through to see if there were any usable shots from the back of Seljalandsfoss. Not much luck also.

Hi Thomas, glad you liked it. Photos wise, it one was actually quite a lean harvest. Trip wise, it was thoroughly enjoyable. :)

I'll dig around the pile and see if there are other nice ones to work on.

Quality rather than quantity! ....that is more important and you had entertain many of us so far....grats.

Nonetheless; matter most is you enjoyed the trip whole-heartedly...

Have a good one,
Thomas

Awesome images, makes the longing even harder...

#4 is just amazing. superb capture.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I've seen some beautiful pictures of Seljalandsfoss from behind the waterfall, probably taken during the summer months when the path is passable and the wind is not so strong...

Grundarfjörður is a beautiful town, and I have so many memories of my favourite mountain, Kirkjufell. There is a famous waterfall there Kirkjufellsfoss, not sure if you went there. Last March, the waterfall was entirely frozen and I couldn't even find the path to it...

Kaffi 59 in Grundarfjörður makes the best pizzas in the world. By any chance, did you eat there ?

Looking forward to more ...

I really liked Kirkjufell also, met a rather well-known (at least to me) Icelandic photographer there (more details on that soon).

I did find the waterfall, was looking for it and passed by it a couple of times without realizing.

The roads heading east of Grundarfjörður was also so beautiful, with still lakes and snow capped mountains.

Kaffi 59? Unfortunately didn't know of it, otherwise would have tried. All our meals were self catered at this leg. :)

Early morning mist at the rock formations at Vik, I was hoping for a human figure at the beach to give more impact to the picture, but it was too early, I was the only person at the site.

Mount Kirkjufell over a partially frozen lake.

I swear, the travel bug resides somewhere in this thread, super itchy now
On autopilot, I just fired up a new tab, and started looking at flights ...
You've got beautiful beautiful images
I don't have clothes for extreme cold though hmmm

My friend got me an affordable fleece jacket from Vietnam, seemed to work really well.

Also need a pair of gloves, beanie and neck warmer. Just view these as one-off costs, so won't really feel the pinch that much.

Important to be warm while waiting for northern lights. :)

Was taking pictures of Mt Kirkjufell when I saw another person shuttling to and from his vehicle lugging around his tripod and camera.

Struck up a conversation with him and his wife and realised that he owns a photo gallery in Reykjavik; and that I was actually pouring over his amazing online collection prior to my trip to Iceland!

Örvar (his name) was really generous with information on photographic opportunities in the area and shared that this spot is a wonderful place to wait for the northern lights, and that he might do a stake out later this evening.

My friends and I returned to the place after dinner to look out for the northern lights.

Örvar didn't appear in our hour or so of waiting (think its too early for him), but we were glad the northern lights did.

The streak of lights at the bottom belonged to a car speeding past as the lights danced overhead.

Akureyri on a wintery morning, this city in north Iceland, is the largest one outside of the capital.

:heart::heart::heart:

i love it...im wondering now if the shots were taken real low, i mean, hiding the lake...:)

Yup, I know what you mean.:) Unfortunately, That thought hit me only while doing post processing. It would make it the trees more prominent and the pic more minimalistic.

We were actually loading the car and getting to leave the hotel when I noticed this scene. Jumped out of car again and managed to grab a few shots, now looking through them to see which ones might actually eliminate the distraction of the lake.

Nice photos! Thanks for sharing!
