Taken on Zeiss Ikon with Canon 85mm f/1.8 LTM using Fujicolor Superia 200. 16 base scan from Konota. Pictures unadjusted except for a very slight crop on the Fiat 500.

Images looks sharp to me, especially on print and the original size scans. Interesting that someone commented that these images are not sharp.

Cheers,

Very nice and thanks for posting. They certainly look sharp. What aperture did you use? I love my 50mm 1.2. The bokeh is truly amazing.

how much does konota charge for dev and scan?

Hi guys,

Interesting that someone commented that these images are not sharp.

Cheers,

I do not think we can judge from the Web, but the lens is a legend for Canon RF.

if they are used to the 50luxasph, they are visually worlds apart even looking a web pics... (before anyone flames me, i appreciate that they are not nec comparable, i just wanted to make the point that different ppl may have different expectations of "sharpness")

personally, i prefer the pre-asph rather than the asph, so i really like the pics. with that dof, certainly not shooting wide open.

Good pic. From my eyes, they show the lens quite sharp and goodi in tone.

looks like you have a very good copy.. looks sharp and nice.:)

I think it's about S$17+ for a roll and S$8 for a 16 base scan. But I find the scan to be slightly too contrasty. Still, beats scanning the roll frame by frame at home.

Cheers,

Thanks for the comments!

Yes. It was a lucky find. Best copy of three. The condition of the other two was full of internal scratches. But this lens also have a scratch inside the rear which I could not see myself till hacker point out to me too.

The scans are slightly more contrasty. The prints shows slight more details in the shadow areas.

I like the pre ASPH 50mm lux too. Just got one to try out. I think the rolls royce picture is f/1.8 at 1/2000 sec. Without EXIF data, it's really hard to remember anything. Spoilt by digital age.

Thanks for the recommendation. I will do one more dedicated roll with it. I think I'm keeping this lens. So far, I like what I see with the few picture I've shot.

I just got a 50 f/1.2 to try as well. Let's see if it measures up to performance.

I think those of you in my flickr group/contact list can access the original size scans to study the details at the centre and the edge yourselfs. 500 pixel files are a bit too small for detailed analysis of it's performance.

Cheers,

Just did another roll with this lens. Shot entirely at f/1.8 only.

Benny has more toys to fondle than to shoot!

He got recent additions and this weekend we are going to deflower them! :bsmilie:

Don't know man. At high/full resolution and on print, it seems sharp to me. He's a 'reputed' camera repair specialist too. But I'm no 'newbie' either, I deal with commercial photography at very high resolution and requiring critical sharpness on specific shoots.

Nevertheless, I am very happy with this lens. That's all that matters.

Not really. Most of these are things in my everyday life or around my work environment. Hardly around as you know.

Maybe this weekend we play with 80mm instead of 85mm!! The 28-80 combo seems fun!

Cheers,

Really good stuff, Benny!
