A few additional things to know...the image you are viewing on the camera is a 640x480 thumbnail, created specifically to look good on the LCD. The image you're looking at your monitor is full size, shrunken down to the resolution of your monitor (assuming you're not looking at the image at 100%).

Also, since you said it's a CRT (this doesn't apply to LCD monitors) as it ages the image on the screen becomes soft...if you have a focus adjustment on the monitor (the front controls) it should be tweaked. Also try increasing the refresh rate (in Hz) the computer is sending to the monitor...recently my monitor looked soft, I didn't notice that a game set my refresh rate to 60Hz and didn't set it back to 100Hz after playing.

Hi Buddies,
Posting some of the pics i took last night after i tried the settings suggested by you all.
I reduced the Brightness of the LCD, does seem to work.
Have a question though -
In the VIVID setting what should the contrast and sharpness be?

Pls feel free to comment on the pics.

Also how do i attach pics to my post like some of you do?

Let me ask you a question...how long is a piece of string? Of course the answer is depends on how long you need it!

The settings for contrast, sharpness, etc. all depend on how YOU like it!

If you ask 20 different photographers you'll get more than 20 different answers.

Personally I change them if I want a certain effect for different shots, so there's no hard and fast answer.
