A few additional things to know...the image you are viewing on the camera is a 640x480 thumbnail, created specifically to look good on the LCD. The image you're looking at your monitor is full size, shrunken down to the resolution of your monitor (assuming you're not looking at the image at 100%

Also, since you said it's a CRT (this doesn't apply to LCD monitors) as it ages the image on the screen becomes soft...if you have a focus adjustment on the monitor (the front controls) it should be tweaked. Also try increasing the refresh rate (in Hz) the computer is sending to the monitor...recently my monitor looked soft, I didn't notice that a game set my refresh rate to 60Hz and didn't set it back to 100Hz after playing.
