Hi pfepl,
You need a sharp lens and I would recommend Nikon 16-85mm f3.5-5.6 lens. Thou is not a fixed aperture lens nevertheless it's sharpness is great across all frame, either day or night photography so far it doesn't disappointed me as my walk abt lens. Btw it cost ard $900++ for the lens
