Identify Your Most Anticipated 2013 Canon Product

According to Japan's Xitek magazine, there will be four significant new Canon bodies in 2013!

EOS 7D Mark II – Will include a new sensor at 10 fps with up to 25,600 ISO.

EOS 70D – This is the first time I've heard anything about a 70D (many people feel that the 60D is the end of the xxD line). This camera will sport the same sensor as 7D Mark II at 3fps with an ISO of 25,600

EOS M2 – A new mirrorless attempt that hopefully will improve on Canon's current offering.

EOS 1DSx – The big megapixel camera in 2013 which will probably generate the most chatter. I'm sure that many will ask these questions: Will it be as little as 39 mp or will it surpass 50 mp? How will IQ compare to Nikon's D800/E? What will this behemoth cost? Hopefully we will know by the end of the year. Start saving now!

Got a scan of that magazine?

Ah I see.. 7D2 is the most plausible though. Another member of the 1D series seemed totally unlikely to me.

I hope that they don't make it part of the 1D family either. Being part of this group means giving up important body parts and your first born child for the privilege of owning this piece of camera royalty.

I'll get the 1DX MK 2 for sure if it has integrated wi-fi and GPS built in, which is a shoe in for sure.

Can't live without my GPS module now

Buy the GPS unit lor. I think it's about $400 from the T K or something. Same pricing as ST-E3-RT/BG-E11

Bro, I already have it liao... I got it before I flew off in early december. Canon Singapore doesn't order the GP-E1 for some reason for the 1DX, so i ordered overseas. Just want it to be integrated like the 6D...

Can't believe why would they make a gps module so expensive...it's like even more expensive than a top of the range Tom Tom unit...

Isn't the latest model, the GP-E2, a little cheaper? At B&H it is priced at $242.

There are plenty of substitutes for a Tom Tom. Nothing close for the GP-E2 unit.

GP-E1 is for the 1dx only, is a lot less obstrusive and much more compact... It's priced around 250 usd if i remember the price i paid for it, a shade under 400 sgd after shipping.

GP-E2 can be used as a logger, but that's about it. It sits on the hot shoe and is meant for the 5D3 and 7d i believe.

The device has proven to be invaluable though, the weather sealing function worked perfect in rainy weather.

Anyway, moving forward, i do believe most if not all of canon's cameras will have the wifi plus gps module built in.

integrate GPS and wifi into the body means they need some room for the signal to penetrate. I am not sure how would they do that in 1 series

I'm sure they can. They did it with the 6D and that has weather sealing too, though not as detailed as the 1 series.

CanonRumors wrongly interpreted the 70D prediction. Japan's Impress magazine was talking about 3" articulate screen, NOT 3 fps. Also, Xitek is a Chinese website/forum.

That's weird. I remembered I saw it before and thus I asked for it out of curiosity. That's how I know the price was about $400..

Weather-sealing has nothing to do with the Wifi and GPS. It means that parts of the body has be built with plastic in order for the signal to go through.

And since we are going by unconfirmed products, just going with rumours, I am looking forward to the 400mm f4 IS lens.

The gp-e2 for sure. I was bugging tk everyday until i bth, ordered it online. Got it in 3 days and price is the same...

Ah okay, my bad then. Perhaps they'll revise the top plate just like what they did with 6D then. Magnesium alloy body still, but poly carbonate top.

Still weather sealed for the 6D.

Not sure if Canon would consider that for the 1D series. They can do it for 6D for sure. But when it comes to 1D which is their flagship, having the top plate build with polycarbonate doesn't sound like an idea. Afterall, the 1D is supposed to be a damn tank..

Never know with Canon, they may just consider it.

Though i'd imagine they'll not do it only because they want to milk consumers more through the sale of individual accessories.

Kevlar would be an awesome substitute.
