I want my bicycle back!

My Aluminium 'Gary Fisher' mountain bike costing more than $2K bicycle was stolen yesterday, just below my block which I had I temporarily parked (I normally keep it at home). I called 999 but was told that they cannot do anything but to report to the nearby police post. Undenyingly, I was told that the chances of recovery is slim. I believe it is as good as gone now. I appreciate any advice just to get my bicycle back ???

My Alunminium "Gaint" mountain bike costed me more tham S$2K too was stolen too sometime ago. I made a police report and they just made the record. When I went back to the police station asking how was the status, the answer was ask me to wait. I believed nothing was done. I have to let go and move on.

There are a few construction sites around my vicinity here at Yio Chu Kang estate. I am sure to recover some stolen bikes there. Why? You may ask. Do you think foreign construction workers (either Bangladeshis or mainland Chinese) can afford Voodoo or Specialized bikes. I ever saw them riding on such high-end bikes. What a msimatch.

anyway, my sis's <$150 bike also kena stolen, locked right outside our flat (stayed on ground flr)... those ppl damn desperate... could it be some foreign workers?

Hey guys.... Can you please tell me how much these foreign construction workers earn a month? Does it makes sense to you that with a few hundred dollars salary they can afford a SGD2k - SGD3k bike?

Also, please keep in mind that these people have access to contractor-grade wire cutters. Your puny little Kryptonite locks are not going to deter them.

You probably not aware that Vietnamnese are the best bicycle thieves in the United States. I had 2 higher-end mountain bikes stolen by them and I knew who the culprits were, but I had no evidence to proof them guilty. They can break any, and I do mean any, bicycle locks within seconds. Just like the movie 'Gone in 60 seconds', but it is stealing bikes instead of cars.

Since all these bicycle thieves is always around the corner, it should not be too difficult to trap and nap them. Get a couple of your friends ready with cameras and video camera (hidden). Lock you bicycle at the position where the video camera pointing.

Then you just walk away to hide at a corner and once the bicycle is in action, all is recorded in the video camera as evidence and you guys can catch him red handed on the spot. The reason is having a few friends to help you cos the culprit may start to run in different directions or become aggressive when confronted.

that's why i never leave my bike outta sight when i'm cycling alone outside. even if i leave it outside into a shop, i would come out every few secs to check on it. and my bike ain't that cheap either haha.

you gotta take risks in owning a bike one la. gees. and i'm planning to get another new 1k++ or 2k bike soon =(. scary.

My Peugeot FSX got stolen from my flat. I parked it outside along the corridoor. My bad.

I did not report it to the police nor went to sungei road.

I believe there is a syndicate of kids or people scotting for bikes along corridoor searching from floor to floor, preying those easy targets.

they will then sell them off at sungei road.

i dont have the effort or time to actually monitor but they are really too much.

Till date, i still keep my receipt which shows my body's serial no. Can i still make a report? it was 1 year ago.

If they see your Canon, Sony, Panasonic or RCA video camera, they will still it too. Some of these thieves are armed with handguns.

There has been many a case of theft involving high end bicycles around private estates where gates have no glass shards nor concertina nor barbed wire - the thieves apparently climbed over and grabbed the bikes. It would be classified as housebreaking for the thieves IMHO, but whether there's actually evidence, that remains to be seen.

If the bike is expensive, please put it INSIDE the home. That's a surer way to prevent theft.

Buy a cheap Bike .. Best if from old uncle. cheap Good .. and weight like dumbbell ..

What if I stop by a shop for 3 minutes to buy things? I locked my bikes and they were still stolen. How can you explain this?

Well, I've stopped at a shop, spent over an hour, and had my bike still locked. Probably because I was able to look out of the corner of my eye as I had my hair cut...

I went into this 'quickie-mart' type store to buy drinks when both me and my wife's bikes got stolen.

These locks are only for you to buy a bit of time against those who are going to push and ride the bike instantly. If someone goes around with a cable cutter in tow... you know they're pre-planned and nothing will stop them.

By the way, a "quickie-mart"? That sounds... suggestive.
