this got me laughing damn hard.
but its true. its not exactly newbie friendly in a way. but then, to think about it, whatever they need to know has already been stickied or stickied or stickied in the Newbies Sub-forum. Its just a matter of clicking to that sub-forum and READING. and in the first place, manuals already has the basics.

There are many leechers in this forum. only a rare few with the CORRECT technical knowledge who bothers to answer. Can you imagine their frustrations, answering the same questions again and again? I dun even wanna start on how retarded those questions can get, even when the fact that they are newbies are factored in...
Sometimes I guess it's better to rent a camera for whatever a purpose than to be stucked with something you don't know. The longer the UFO hangs around you, the higher the chances other people knows you don't know.
Big cameras can never make a person pro, neither does it add or expand the contact list of the opposite genders- those who are long enough in here knows that already.

Don't be disheartened with some of the comments from members here. Most of them are really kind but sadly some are just young. You have spend a great deal on those lovely equipement , so surely you have done some reading and intend to continue. Photography is a lovely hobby to pursue even if you didnt start according to some protocol some of them imaged or perceived here.
I am sure many of us here would like to hear of your progress. We are all learning, no one knows all... take your time and enjoy what we can see in photograghy when our eyes cannot see in the natural world.

maybe if u want.... for nikon it is called the "P" mode... program mode la.. see how the camera reacts with metering on aperature and shutter... after u understand it u can switch to M for effects and this is where those cool looking waterline or what ever u called it come in place for u to learn..
buy usually la i mean USUALLY... outdoor shooting using different shutter speeds and aperatures.
commonly i use low aperature setting (because i like focusing on a subject) my shutter speed used at outdoor DAYTIME is around 1/100-1/320 or sometimes even faster with ISO set to lowest.

I'm also a newbie in photography so my thots are worth less than 2 cents.
But I feel that the P mode is good enough for most occasions. Putting it in M mode requires a lot of thinking and may cause us to miss the 'magic' moments.
But of course, knowing how it works helps heaps when you do Macro etc, but maybe it's not the best FIRST thing to learn in photography.
