Tori King Ramen @ 100AM, Amara Hotel, 100 Tras Street, 03-15, from 11.30am to 10pm daily

After reading how some online articles have been raving on how good this ramen place is, i decided to try out this newly opened ramen place for a friend's birthday treat. The founder, Keisuke Takeda, was once selected as the top ramen chef in Japan and crowned as Ramen King. We can easily identify this place by the queue forming out the restaurant during dinner. No reservation is allowed so just be prepared to queue.

The menu is very simple. You got three kind of soup bases, the original, peppery black spicy, and green Spicy. Tori King uses chicken broth Unlike many traditional ramen places which uses pork broth. In comparison to Marutama ramen which also uses chicken broth, Tori King's broth is stronger and much more flavorful.

According to some article, the stock is made from chicken bones, chicken feet, Japanese seaweed and an assortment of vegetables and boiled for eight hours. One of the best part is the chicken drumstick. Chef Keisuke said the chicken is boiled for 45 minutes and submerged overnight in soy sauce and is grilled before it's served.

Those who love heavy broth will definitely love this place. In my opinion, this is one of the best ramen that i ever had.

Huang Kee Hong Kong Style Wanton Noodle (黄记云吞面)

Today, I had my lunch at this Wanton Mee stall at 266 Compassvale Bow Coffee Shop.

This coffee shop is situated at level one of a multi-storey car park and it's just beside Shop and Save.

I think this stall is not very famous on the internet as i tried to google the review and there's no result.

But every time i came here, it's either the queue is super long, or it's already sold out.

So today i decided to heck it and try it out.

It took 20-25 minutes before it's my turn. I ordered their Char Siew Dumpling Tomato Noodle and their Char Siew Wanton Noodle.

Char Siew Dumpling Tomato Noodle Dry

*Initially i thought the tomato noodle is by purely adding ketchup to the noodle but it's not.
The noodle itself is reddish in color which has a light tomato taste. Quite interesting!
As my wife is very into tomato stuff, at $4.00, this became one of her favorite wanton noodle in Sengkang area.
No chilli is added into the noodle but with only the dark gravy like Hong Kong style.
If you still prefer chilli, then feel free to help yourself to the condiments at the stall.*

*The Wanton Noodle cost $3.00 with 2 fried wantons and 2 soup wantons.
The noodle is very Q and goes very well with the gravy!*

Hansik Korean Restaurant @ Heartland Mall

This restaurant is situated at level 2 of Heartland Mall (Kovan). Despite the pricey menu (pricey for a heartland location), for most of the time, this place is fully packed during dinner time.

Had been reading up online reviews on this place and they are generally positive and many raved about their authentic Korean food.

Yeap, the boss of the place is a true Korean who migrated to Singapore.

We ordered their Assorted BBQ Pork set ($42.00++) that comes with 4 kinds of Pork:

1. Pork Belly
2. Pork Rib
3. Pork Jowl
4. Shoulder Loin

And it also comes with side dishes (refillable), assorted mushrooms and veggie for BBQ.

Oh ya, as a side note, they also served very good Spicy Rice Cake.

Chewy, soft and the sauce really flavorful that is neither too salty nor spicy.

Apart from the rice cake, it comes with fish cake and kimchi.

The best rice cake so far.

Kovan also got another Thai eatery call Nakhon Kitchen which i wanted to try but it's always long queue.

Oh ya the Thai food was nice and quite authentic. You can go around 5 plus to skip the queue. Bright enough for food photography too haha
