I love my XH-A1.
If I had to choose another camera to get, it would be another A1.

Ha ha, the XH-A1S is out now, maybe you should "upgrade"? :)

Gong Xi Fa Cai David.

sell me yr A1 and you buy the new A1S

I'm actually looking for a 2nd-hand A1 set for my friend..

I feel there is no need to upgrade as the original A1 is still pretty kickass - I rather use the extra money to fund another film :P

As of now, I'm still waiting for another camera to come out to beat the A1... I am still not convinced moving on to the P2 world.... and the EX1/3 are a tad too huge.

Have you seen the JVC GY-HM100? Makes me wonder what AVCHD is for.

I love that JVC thing, I wouldnt mind one of those... but between that and the A1, I'll choose the A1 because it is smaller :)
But I love the lens of those JVC monsters :P

JVC knows, it's my dreamcorder at the price for now. Until then, i'm still waiting for the new vixias and pana reviews before i try my hand at shooting things.

Have you seen any sample footage? I tried to find some but couldn't see any around. No point dreaming about it until I can see what the image quality is like.

reminds me of the weapons they use in Man In Black 1....
ok back to the A1 topic... A1 rocks =D

Nope, it's still too early to get any moving pictures. But this presentation did show a few clips towards the very end. I think, pretty good.

It's a dream cos' at that price and at my level it's pretty stupid throw money away when i still know nuts about film making.

I guess u r talking about JVC 111E, the new JVC compact will be released this summer i think.

JVC 111E is definitely too heavy n big especially u opted anton bauer battery system.

111E's ENG lens is not as sharp as A1's

Oh oh oh talking about formats.... you can have a PAL AND NTSC in a single A1 camera =D

I don't think so, both SD and HDV. that means u can shoot both 30i 50i 25f 24f
someone correct me if i'm wrong

um..i think original camcorder without firmware update (additional cost)at service centre only can support either pal or ntsc.

30i is rare...2 fields added up will be 15fps...

HDV only can go 1440 x 1080 maximum...anything more than that will be something like "digital zoom"...

Someone please enlighten me if Sony DVCAM format can go beyong 1440 X 1080 natively...

You are correct, the cams need a service centre mod to change to dual format. After that they can shoot 24F, 25F, 30F, 50i and 60i.

HDV is a standard, and the resolution is always 1440x1080 or 1280x720.

I think DVCAM is the same resolution as DV, i.e. 720x576 or 720x480. It is definitely NOT high definition.

If a XH-A1 can shoot all these frame rates... 24F, 25F, 30F, 50i and 60i
Gosh! why would we wanna buy any other cameras? unless u wanna do P2 & DVCPRO HD :o

Well, 60P springs to mind as a good reason! This is great for really smooth slo-mo shots. Although 50i on the XH-A1 can also be used, it's just a bit more work.
