Maybe you would like to invest in a dedicated video cam if you want video function.
Actually the video is only secondary but it still must be of decent 720p quality. The still picture will be my primary useage. The movie mode from my LX-3 shot in 720p is very good just that the zoom is just too short for video. Hence a longer zoom is what I need. That's why the GH-1 is still my first choice as the picture is really fantastic and the video looks pretty good from what I've seen in the net. If it's under $2k I'll get it. What I love about the HX-1 is the Panorama function and zoom range. I'm a sucker for features in any gadget even if I hardly use it. Haven't seen how it performs in low light using IA mode. No chance to test as all shopping centres are too brightly lighted. Anyone have any shots taken in low light to show?
I'll make up my mind after the PC show. I can actually get the HX-1 from B&H for US$469 (S$689) as my friend is going to NYC next week. For S$180 less I have to forgo the warranty. The GH-1 is about US$1500 and it's not worth it since it doesn't come with International warranty. As for the HX-1 at US$469, the warranty is not really that important.
