Nope. You bought the HDV video cam a few days ago? haha S$2500. Burnt a hole in your pocket? Me still on Standard Definition. Can't resist the temptation of video right. ;p

Want to get professional HDV video cam later on? Save save save. Costs S$14,000. Consumer HDV video cams don't have optical image stabilization, manual aperture, zebra, and other manual settings. Sony HDR-HC3 is 1080i (interlaced). You can't shoot in 25P progressive mode.

:kok: What kind of conditions a DSLR cannot handle? :sticktong Tell me... Even a PnS can shoot great pictures in low/tricky lightings such as clubs...

Your FZ50 is good enough for you to handle almost all types of conditions lor...

My Fujifilm S5500 compared to your FZ50 (when I was a prosumer user, I also just shoot like that...)
- 10x optical zoom VS 12x optical zoom
- 4mp VS 10.1mp
- 640 x 480 video VS 848 x 480 video
- No image stabliser VS Mega O.I.S
- No hotshoe VS TTL Flash hot-shoe
- Normal LCD screen VS "Flip down and twist"

S5500 no hotshot? wow! that one is which year's product?

u almost forget a photog's nightmare of unwanted noise, Fuji got better noise control but with pana, u would see noise like ISO 200~250 liao... anyway, videography also fun at times to me:cool:

I think is 2004 bah... (http://www.dpreview.com/news/0407/04072805fujifinepixs5500z.asp_

You forgot video will also have noise too... :bsmilie: But, there's always external "firepower"... ;p (BBB!!!)

Agree, but my shaky hands not suitable for videography... Unless I bring a dolly around... :bsmilie:

i did not really spot much, i also dun know with setting i put, HD or the usual one. me sometime like to use tripod to combat shaky hand, then got the smooth moving effect also, those fast turning ones make me dizzy after watching them. btw your link nt working liao

btw, sgvideoman: if i rec in the usual tape mode and HD is there any difference with the visibility of the noise? with one hav lesser noise?

Hmm... nevermind bout the link then...

If recording stage events etc, use tripod/dolly is still all right... but if shoot for other types of coverage mount on tripod, then too dead liao le bah... Mount on tripod already, then can go sleep liao, wait to da bao after finished type yields super steady video, but lack the dynamic feel...

Like shooting at night/low lighting conditions, mounting on tripod gives sharp images, but one can always break-the-rules for more creative shots... ;)
