How to tell from the specs that your camera is a FF or Crop?

There are only a handful of Full Frame DSLR.. just do a google and you will have ocean of information.

Loosely

Canon has 1DS and 5D series as FF

1D series as 1.3X cropped (7D ? not bothered)

Rest all 1.6X cropped

And to complete Nikon side of things... D3s, D3 & D700 are all FFs...

Correct or not, hm? har? hm?? :bsmilie:

i hope the guy who sold you the 50d didn't pass off the camera as a ff.

Lol epic fail . Bought camera without knowing focal length multiplier . I'll give you a tip : FF cams come real expensive .

raccoon80, you really so loaded that you bought a 50D and 17-55 f/2.8 (at least $3K combo) without really knowing what you need?

heheheh quite fortunate :)

It took me a few months of reading and to actually buy my dslr and im happy with it...:)

Not always true lah. RRP for APS-H Canon 1DmarkIV is $7299, even more expensive than the FF Canon 5DMarkII at $3599.

bro, i knew a friend recently who bought D3s with the trinity lens but still thinking of how and what to use it for..

Ask him whether he wants to sell me that big fat and short, clumsy lens for cheap?

TS: Sorry man. You didn't get yourself a FF camera. You could have asked here on CS before you bought your camera! Better sell it off fast and go full frame before the price drops further.

The 1DmkIV is quite close to full-frame and very good. Buy buy buy!

I know someone exactly like that. Maybe it's the same person. LOL. I'm speechless when I see the pictures he posts. Really better off with a PNS

DOn't say like that leh... a lot of us picture sucks also leh... we newbie leh..

Hey guys. I don't think there is a need to "suan" the TS for not being photography savvy. After all this is newbies corner and not everyone is as knowledgeable as you. Buying a camera to some is taking the first step into pursuing the interest and leaning more about photography. Asking this question here is the first few steps that he is taking, and he should be encouraged to learn more rather than being shot down. Let's be more nice and forgiving, shall we?
