How to store wine?

You can always check out the wine fridges in places like Carrefour, Courts etc. The smaller ones are about $150+ range, and can store about 20-odd bottles (if I am not wrong). Most importantly is to keep the bottles out of direct sunlight if you are not storing them in a wine fridge. Somewhere dark and cool would be the next best alternative. Humidity & Temperature in Singapore makes it highly recommended that you chill most of your reds & whites before drinking. I think the exception to the norm is for Merlots which have to be left standing after you open it.

thanks for the info Retro

Actually there are many brands of wine fridges. Besides those mentioned by plsoong, there are Brandt, Electrolux, Liebherr, Bosch, etc.

Of course the premium brands are Eurocave and Transtherm. I personally own a Transtherm and a Liebherr.

There is actually a big difference between a real electric wine cellar such as a Transtherm, and some cheap ones on sale in electrical stores. A real wine cellar should keep the temperature of wine absolutely constant, with a high humidity and with vibration free support system.

Some of the cheap wine fridges are merely wine coolers, ie, you keep your wines there to chill so that they are chilled and ready to drink when you want to drink them. The temperatues can be too cold, but worse, fluctuate too much, to be used for serious wine aging purpose. Most of these ones also do not have a humidity control system, so watch out. I don't want to mention brand names here in case I get flamed.

My simple advice is, just make sure you ask all these questions before you buy any wine fridge. Enjoy your wines!
