shoot at 10fps? and pray?
 

pre focus and spray until the ball comes in the focus area?
 

even it is at 1/4000s, it will still have motion blur.

Or you can have the pitcher just hold the pose in the background and someone else (outside the frame view):
- drop the ball from the top, or
- throw the ball from the ground up (more likely scenario)
Shoot at 1/1000-4000 wide open at 10fps.

the guy behind looks oddly fake to me!

shall try to replicate tat one wiht a creation of my own later;D u will laugh

* tried and failed badly. i realised using a gundam + its lightsaber as a model is a bad thing. the strings turn out too obvious.

in comparision the pic has quite big subjects. if i used string it would be well hidden. ~~

To me, it seems like a tele lens of at least 500mm and it's in a near distance.
But the "bokeh" seems kinda fake.. :sweat:
 

Nowdays, most photogs depends on Adobe Photoshop
Photogs should thanks AP for letting them to create fake cartoon pics
