How to do a massive collage?

I want to do a collage of 500-1000 photos into one big poster.

Anyone knows how i can do that?

Not looking at mosiac type but simply just a massive collection of photos in one poster. they can be simply lined up side by side, row by row.

you can try use contact sheet II of CS6, but I don't know does anyone ever try more 500 images into one sheet, hope your machine is powerful and have enough memory.

Use Photoscape software. It's free.
The page function allows you to create collage, one of the templates is a 5 by 5 (total 25 images). Each page is save as a jpeg image. Once you create several pages of 25 images, you can put them together using the same function.

are you looking to do a very rigid grid type collage like what the above 2 have mentioned or looking to do a more messy type "art feel" collage?
