Lol.. maybe the solution to BBB would be to go back to P&S. No need to buy anything extra as there are limited accessories for P&S !!!
Yep.. agreed. In my case the equipment is almost good enough...

You mentioned "almost" so means there's still discontentment, so the BBB still exist no matter what.
If u dun mind used, u can always buy 2nd hand from the different sources, B&S, ebay, keh, B&S from other forum, etc...if dun like it sell off again without losing much. But then, it may turn out that you are looking for the best lens always, and risk bringing many lenses and not using much. I'm pretty much into the BBB so that's my take, i dunno how to resist, but sometimes when I sell lenses, I meet new and nice people, that itself, is a nice contentment.
Photography is only a hobby for me but like everyone else, I was caught in the Buy, Buy, Buy mentality as my interest grows. What cause this mentality?
1) The rapid advance in technology leading to cameras and equipments to become obsolete after a few years.
2) Computers make it easier for us to find out the latest gadgets available that we no longer have to go to bookshops to buy or browse magazines like in the past. Easy access to reviews of these gadgets where the reviewers have their interests to persuade us to buy so that they can get sponsors for their advertisements. Computers also make it easier for us to pixel peep so that we become dissatisfied with lack of corner sharpness when in the past, no one really can be bothered to scrutinized a 4R photo with a magnifying glass or worse, a watchman eye-glass!
3) The rise in consumerism with rampant advertising and economic progress.
4) The personal desire to own the best equipments in the view that this will make our photos looked better. Theres a difference between want and need. Its perfectly all right to buy something you want if you can afford it. If you buy it and realized you dont really need it, it will stay in cold storage. Cameras and lenses are like girl friends/boy friends/spouses. If you own them and dont make an effort to understand them, they will become someone elses possessions eventually. There is no perfect camera or lens. Youll need to know their weaknesses and try to overcome them. Sometimes, we buy because its one way to relieve our stress subconsciously. Sometimes, its also a way of rewarding ourselves for the hard work we have put in to survive in this very competitive world.
My 2 cents worth of observations. Make it 3 cents as the Sing$ has recently appreciated.
