Hi guys,

Any Mac User know how to 'defish' a fisheye-effect image from a 8mm fish-eye lens?

Thanks

I am a Windows user, but you can try this mac defish.

Thanks, Megaweb.

Tried it out with small files, works alright. Will try out large jpgs when my peleng 8mm arrives.

Cheers

hahaha!!!

actually, imho - no loss. the FE effect is a very nice effect when used properly.

when you defish, you minus about 1.5x, and the resultant picture still has pretty bad with "stretched" distortion!!

Genting, Melbourne, Las Vegas... hahaha!!! :bsmilie:

let me read up more on IR photography first!! still trying to get a handle on landscape, more use to event and candid photography.

might ask to borrow your peleng later... once you get it from hp!!

Wah Lao, when you join the IR outing, sure can let you try.

I found this thread through the search function.

How's the desifh working?
any other software to correct the distortion in wide angle?

TIA.

panotools is able to extract an image from an 8mm fisheye. extracted image would have fov of your choice and can be in fisheye format or the normal format. it has a steep learning curve though. available as a plugin for photoshop. pm me if you have questions :)

hi,

thx for the willingness to share the knowledge.
Anyway, I'm using 15mm and 10-22mm on a 1.6x crop DSLR body.
So, the distortion not so obvious like the 8mm lens, but still sometimes it's annoyed me.

Any idea how to correct it?
FYI, I'm using Macintosh. TIA.

lol. Have you considered getting a wide instead of a Fisheye?

ahem. that being said, Filters>Distort>Lens correction in PS would do fine. You'll just lose focal length though.

doesn't make any difference whether you're using mac or not, PS is the same in both PC platforms.

Anyway, Filters>distort>lens correction.

FYI, I also mac user. =D
