Upload photo into flickr and look at properties, its free.

Really ? What Exif viewer are you using ? I use the Opanda but doesn't seem to give any clue as to which one is the shutter count. Which particular field is it ? Tks.

just upload photo to flicr, open one account if you dont have, no need pro account. Opanda works on some models only, yes I am referrring to all the versions of Opanda.

Thanks.

if my last photo taken is DSC7515, its 7.5k shutter count?

That is provided no reset of the counter was ever done on your camera and it is the first 7.5k count. Understand that the counter goes back to zero if it reaches 9999.

Yes you can see the shutter count there.

WOW!!! Thanks! Ok, that means if you buy a 2nd hand camera, you can tell how heavily it's used now by asking the buyer to send you a file taken with the camera and upload into Flikr and check the shutter count...

Yupe that's right... I cleared 9999 twice on my old 7D... kekeke... clocked in over 20,000 shots in about 4 years... which is a far cry from the shutter mechanism rating of 100,000...

i cant find any shutter count numbers on the flickr properties of the picture leh

>More Properties, find File Index

If you have DI and check certain properties in that software, it might prevent some properties showing up. Try a few and you will see the difference. I just tested with 2 bodies, no problem..

weird leh... i still cant seem to find the file index in the properties. where to check the DI?

only certain bodies got the shutter count embedded into the exif function? coz i try uploading without doing any pp i also cant find the file index

Which camera bodies did you use? Maybe that will help us.

Could be, but IIRC it works on most models though I dont have the list. Once DI, more properties will show up and File Index is removed. I cant understand why...

Tried both 450D and 50D, jpeg, no PP.

Have you tried shooting jpeg and upload? Dont shoot raw and convert jpeg. I notice it doesnt show up even just convertion and no pp.

Upload ? hmmm, not yet.. Because lazy.... ;p Lazy to shoot raw then convert jpeg too... :) Actually was lamenting why Alpha users are so 'unfortunate' only. Guess there are more people eager to know their shutter count. Tks, you have been helpful :)

i tried uploading a jpeg that has not done any pp. straight from the cam without doing anything but it don't work. that's for my km d7d. alpha one also cannot. just resize using photoshop to get down below 2mb for the upload but still no file index. i guess it doesn't apply to all cameras.

Maybe SONY cameras don't embed the shutter count in the EXIF at all... but Canon seems to.

What I do know is that SSC can check it for you... So far, all the EXIF software I've installed and tried are unable to extract shutter count numbers... What I do know about my camera in terms of the shutter count = a ton of shots. :sweatsm:

Thats so weird...my sony pns does show up. I might be able to try with a230, maybe a newer model works???

That's most interesting... why should a PnS show shutter count when there isn't a physical shutter?! It's just an electronic on-off switch...:dunno:
