Or you can carry them by holding one of the legs, or use a tripod bag. The last option is the most unwieldy and inconvenient.

I'm not really a big fan of tripod straps. Find them quite uncomfortable especially when I'm carrying a bag already. What I usually do is same as what ckiang suggested. I do have a mini trekker that allows me to store the tripod but that too isn't quite convenient. Still prefer to hold it in one hand.

yea... i would juz carry it around openly(w/o bag), cus when a moment come, it'll be too late to setup every thing n shoot...
best if even u secure it on the tripod(well... better if u hve a quick release)

I think using the strap is simplest and most convienient.
anybody know where can buy?

so far, i just hook it over one of my backpack's strap...
=P

that can only happen with tripods with a panning handle. hehehe. how about the professional tripods like Manfrotto with a ball head with panning handles that weighs like 2kg plus... eg. 055 + 308RC???

i have a strap for my manfrotto 190Pro and 329 pan-head (not exactly a light combination!) which on one end clips on to a ring and the other end ties around the legs. it's very secure and a great way to carry it around, but a bit on the impractical side because it takes time to deploy, and the strap is left lying on the ground when shooting, so might just trip over it and bye-bye camera...

so i'm looking for a padded bag instead. anyone know where to get one?

think CP sells the Manfrotto padded bag... not sure about price though, cos my tripod's a Slik.

seems tht CP is mentioned very often... but i have a personal dislike abt. them... they're like ever proud lor... 2 times i approached them, twice they faced me with their nostrils...

not all from CP are that cocky. those guys at the tripod section are very friendly and helpful, and generally so are those at the main store (opposite the tripod section).

however, a few guys at the medium-format section are very aloof.

any guy that you can mention (name) that is very good so maybe next time i go there can ask for them??

me use the 190pro (tripod legs) and the 168 (tripod head)
anyone useing the same combi as me?? any tips to shared on how you carry the tripod?

well...carrying just the tripod without any bag seems like a poser to me leh...especially when you are travelling...too much things on hand is a hassle..

i was trying to use the Walking stick storage found outside most backpack and it seems ok...might need a rubber band to secure the legs though...and my back pack have to be full too...

anyway, still think paying about $30 for the strap is not worth it..

how much is the tripod bag? any one?

i kinda agree with munfai there. i've been to the tripod store any number of times these few weeks, checking up on prices, and the guys there are always very helpful, even when i don't buy anything. the main store ones are quite ok with me too, and i don't really buy a lot of stuff from them, just usually minor stuff like straps and accessories.

CP is kinda hard to avoid though, they ARE the biggest players around and they are usually the only ones who stock the obscure or harder to find stuff... i doubt if you can find Manfrotto or Slik bags at AP, MS Colour or anywhere else, or at least readily in stock.

just came back from CP... the padded bag fits the manfrotto 190pro and 329 perfectly...

... if I remove the tripod head handles, that is!!! shucks... anyone know where to get tamrac products?

btw, samuel from John 3:16 recommended me to go to Beach Road market to get a custom tripod bag sewn, for about $10-15. cool idea... anyone done that?
